George W. Bush created the Department of Homeland Security in 2002 while Barack Obama was a little-known state senator from Illinois. If you’ll excuse my language, the person who owns this car is teatarded.

I overheard some dumbass at a restaurant yesterday saying Obama wants to make the country into a dictatorship. It was all I could do to keep my seat and not shake her til her teeth rattled. What does that shit even mean?
Dictator? Why do people say this stuff? It has not one iota of logic; it’s just saying what they think is the worst possible insult they can come up with, without saying outright that they hate him because he’s a black Democrat.
So I’m getting some earplugs for the next few months, or I will feel pretty stabby.
I saw a video about this. Someone took a bunch of video clips of the President talking about votes in Congress and saying that the votes were frustrating but that he wasn’t a dictator and couldn’t force Congress…and edited them so that he appeared to be saying he was a dictator, wished he could be a dictator, would force congress, etc.
It was posted on facebook by one of the wingnut kids I grew up with but I’m sure you can find it on youtube.
The Hart-Rudman Commission used the word “homeland” in reference to America a few months before 9/11. That commission was created under the aegis of Bill Clinton’s secretary of defense (William Cohen, a Republican), and its co-chair, Warren Rudman, was also a Republican.
As I have been saying…it’s a bipartisan scam. Obama? Butch II? Clinton? Good cop/bad cop/good cop/bad cop. Right on back to LBJ w/the possible exception of the Mistake Preznit, Jimmy Carter. (“What!!! He won??? Aw shit!!!”) All working out of the same precinct. The DC Stationhouse.
Also…”Motherland,” “Fatherland?” They’re so…last century. So sexist, so redolent of certain kinds of authority figures that are apparently now no longer needed or supported by our multi-sexual system.
“Personland?” “Inclusionland?” They just don’t work.
Actually I have seen similar sentiments expressed on progressive sites. The bumper sticker could have been on a progressive’s car, so a term other than teatarded may be required.
Obama has embraced Bush’s national security regime (except for the torture, as far as we know) to the detriment of some of our fundamental freedoms; its unfair to go so far to compare that to the abuses under hitler and stalin but in politics one can’t really fault someone for grossly exaggerating in order to make a point.
While I have some very real very serious problems with Obama’s approach to civil liberties and have long called for us to accelerate our withdrawal from Afghanistan, the only new war he’s involved us in was in Libya (which I vehemently opposed) and that operation had the approval of the UN and the Arab League, if not the US Congress. I do not see anything remotely comparable to Bush’s constant state of fear in the furtherance of starting a war of aggression and occupation in a country that had not attacked us and was not going to attack us.
I don’t disagree with that. Nevertheless, while the bumper sticker is extreme its unclear whether it expresses sentiments from the extreme left or the extreme right of the political spectrum. This may be a place where the two merge.
It’s the far right!! If it was the far left, they wouldn’t have put Stalin in there, for starters. And also, who is always trying to convince people that Hitler was somehow a leftist?
What a boob!

Just tell ’em no, that was Dubya.
“If this were a dictatorship, it’d be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I’m the dictator.”
