I wish all hosts would throw people off their shows if they act in bad faith. And they should demand higher standards of their guests in the first place.
I hope MSNBC stands by her. This will surely be a GOP temper tantrum teapot tempest, and we all know how eager the “good guys” can be to pull a Shirley Sherrod in order to appear fair and stuff.
Next time anyone is mystified by why you think DC media coverage – especially the Sunday morning fellatio-fests – are so awful, just show them this clip. Their homework: Compare and contrast.
She is one of the most under rated hosts in the lineup. On the day the tornadoes were hitting her home town in Texas she never missed a beat…texting family to keep them safe and in touch with her, relaying real time events in town doing a service to her community at home as well as onscreen.
Carney was a point man in trying to undermine the topic he had been brought on to discuss; how the campaign was handling the development of a campaign sensitive story, and stop the MSM discussion & return to the economy. I got news for the campaign, after watching Jennifer Granholm with her graphs provided by Bloomberg on how well Dems do (and O in particular) vs Rep’s in managing the US economy, Romney might just want to return to his high school years.
OT: Look, I believe in gun control, but I don’t begrudge people who have their guns LEGALLY. But if you are a gun owner and/or a card carrying NRA member, then this should make you made and as pissed about it as I am. The vendor actually tells it that he’s just doing it cause he wants to make money over the contraversy…BASTARDS!!!
Obviously they talked to this guy beforehand. I’ve been through it. Canceled on The Ed Show three times. They call you up and say they’re thinking of doing a segment on some issue and would you be interested in participating? And then they pick your brain to get an idea of what you’re likely to say. If they invite you on, it’s with the understanding that you’re going to talk about the topic you’ve discussed. If you come out of the box attacking the whole premise, the anchor, and the network, you’re basically sandbagging them.
O’Reilly does something different. He sandbags his guests.
The wingers are treating this as a meltdown, but I think it’s awesome.
C’mon, MSNBC! Prime time slot!

I’m in love. (And not with Tim Carney…)

Damn. That was awesome.
OK I liked that…
…but I also don’t.
I don’t like it when the media types make themselves the news. I always see that as bad form. No different when O’Reilly or Rush does it.
I would rather she had let him speak, then say something subtle, smart and snarky and just (prematurely) move to the next segment.
And tell him off screen that he won’t be coming back.
Andy, here’s the thing.

Sure. The the reporter should never become the story. Basic rule of journalism.
Just cut the interview short and go to commercial.
Not that he didn’t deserve the treatment he got.
But the worst thing they can do to him is to deny him the platform. Cut him off and never invite him back.
She had him with, “I’m guessing I was a tougher kid than Mitt Romney in high school.” That shut him up in a heartbeat.
That was a beautiful thing to watch.
