   Romney challenges Obama to a sing-off.  That might get a higher TV rating than one of the debates and probably wouldn’t be any more meaningless or cringe-worthy.  Suggested judge panel: Marie Osmond, Randy Jackson, and Simon Cowell.

     But what the hell have you got against Simon Crowell???

       The fundies might accept him as an objective judge.  Of course his vote wouldn’t matter unless Osmond demonstrates total bias by ranking Willard’s singing as better than Obama’s.  Still, he’s not a shoo-in for unbiased objectivity as he did support Cameron.

   (NY Times) June 13, 2011 – Growing numbers of gay couples across the country are adopting, according to census data, despite an uneven legal landscape that can leave their children without the rights and protections extended to children of heterosexual parents.

   Same-sex couples are explicitly prohibited from adopting in only two states — Utah and Mississippi — but they face significant legal hurdles in about half of all other states, particularly because they cannot legally marry in those states.

   Mitt Romney and Gay Marriage: It’s Complicated

   (AutoStraddle) – While Romney has always opposed same-sex marriage, he also “vowed while running [for governor] in Massachusetts to defend and expand the rights of gays and lesbians.” Perhaps most importantly, when marriage equality was made law in 2004 in Massachusetts, Romney initially promised to honor the decision, despite the agitation of conservative groups in-state. Of course, Romney later went on to attempt to block the ruling and, in the process, invoked a law dating back virtually to Massachusetts’ colonial days that barred out-of-state couples from getting married in MA. But his reversal came off as calculated (especially in light of his 2008 presidential run), and may illustrate something important about Romney as a candidate: whatever his actual personal or political values might be, they come second to what Romney thinks voters want from him.

   Romney’s letter to Log Cabin Club in 1994

   While running for the US Senate against Senator Ted Kennedy in 1994, Mitt Romney wrote a letter to the Log Cabin Club of Massachusetts  – a gay rights political group. In that letter, he states that he would be a better promoter of civil rights for gays than Senator Kennedy.

   OK, well, Mitt’s balllessness makes him a perfect leader for our time- I see little bold leadership or planning going on now by our current “leaders”.

       Right.

       And keep in mind many politicians, including those “on our side”, in fact do not want change. They are there to support the status quo.

       Perfect example being governors who turned away stimulus money slated for rail projects in their states.
