Remember, we’re talking about kids whose parents brought them to this country illegally who then went on to be law-abiding normal American young adults. The president is giving them a break. Smell the tyranny:
Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio said it’s “a short term answer to a long term problem,” and House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Peter King told The Daily Caller his committee is “launching an immediate review” of the administration’s activities. South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham called the action “possibly illegal.”
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Lamar Smith called the Obama administration’s plan a “breach of faith with the American people” that “blatantly ignores the rule of law that is the foundation of our democracy.”
Wisconsin Republican Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner, the former chairman of the House Judiciary Committee and current chairman of that committee’s subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security, said the administration’s announcement was a “political calculation” Obama made during an election year in “an effort to appeal to some voters.”
Sensenbrenner added that he thinks the announcement is “offensive to the millions of Americans still out of work.”
“It rewards law-breaking,” Sensenbrenner said. “And it’s deeply unfair to those who came to this country legally.”
Are you offended that these kids will no longer be punished for their parents’ decisions?
Not in the least.
I am offended by those that are offended.
And I’m offended by you being offended by their offensiveness.
Wait, what blog is this?
“Give us your tired, your poor, your huddled masses…”REPEALED – GOP.
“And it’s deeply unfair to those who came to this country legally.” Can I see all y’all’s green cards, please?
Out here on The High Desert, though not here first the “Mexicans” were here before the white-dogs. Couple hundred years before the white-dogs.
But then they lost a war. Treaty of Hidalgo.
They don’t speak Celtic in France (formerly Celtic Gaul) either. Lost two wars. One to Julius Caesar. Then the Romans lost to the (Germanic) Franks. Wars have lasting political consequences.
Is there anything as tyrannical as directing armed state security agencies to detain, jail, and deport fewer children?
Atrios has this right: this is a pure asshole test. If you don’t support the president here, you’re an asshole. End of story. It’s not even like he fast tracks them to citizenship; this is taking the wind out of Marco Rubio’s sales. I hope it gets brought up more and more.

Well, Rubio is trying to sell himself as the GOP’s Great Hispanic Hope.
Hey look, kids! They’re playing all the Republican Greatest Hits! It almost feels like the Clinton years again. Impeachment, anyone?
Seriously. And they think they can pull this with all the abuses of the Cheney administration so fresh in our memories…
This is pure politics.
Will Obama lose more votes by doing this than he will win?
Answer?
No.
The Hispanic vote…the Hispanic-heritage full citizens, one, two, even three generations on…are a swing vote in his election. A swing vote that is at least partially still in play, particularly given the anti-Castro expatriate Cuban thing in Florida and New Jersey among other factors.
Remember…Florida was where the 2000 and 2004 votes were stolen.
Move things a few decimal points in Obama’s direction and what is “stealable” becomes untouchable.
Parsing democracy.
Politics 2012.
Bet on it.
“Right?”
“Wrong?”
Only if it doesn’t make you lose.
Bet on it.
Realpolitik.
Bet on that as well.
Watch.
And…wake the fuck up.
It’s a razor’s edge between “right” and “wrong.”
“Wrong?”
Only if you lose.
Watch.

Who cares if it is pure politics, it still helps a lot of young people that didn’t come here because they wanted to, sometimes good politics leads to good policy.
“Who cares???!!!”
Politicians care, fool.
That’s how they get elected or de(
s)elected, man!!!Morality?
How does that pertain the the Middle East? To Egypt or Syria?
Gimme a break.
C’mon.
Wake the fuck up.
Win or lose.
The first decision for a practical pol.
Bet on it.
S.
Man I think you finally went off the deep end.
I hate to break it to you but politics makes the whole world work from elementary school to the leaders of countries.
You’re getting lazy, Arthur, Of course, it’s political. And no one really cares so just watch the dance.
Watch the dance?
Oh yes!
That I am.
AG
I think AG is right that this is politics.
Combine this in your view with the flip on gay marriage and each makes the other look more like a step to the left not only for votes but for contributions.
And in this case if it isn’t illegal or unconstitutional it sure looks it and is easily spun that way.
Not that he shouldn’t have done these things.
He was sitting too far to the right on both issues, anyway, I think, if not out of personal conviction then out of political sagacity.
And “old politics” though these moves are, I would hate to see him lose to Romney for being a smidge too clean.
But we won’t really know how this plays until we see it.
I wish him luck.
And us.
Especially us because I fear another “etch-a-sketch” after the election.
Mostly right, except that Latinos are not a “swing vote.” There is no chance whatsoever that Republicans would win the Latino vote, or even come close to not losing it badly.
There is, however, a chance that Latino turnout could be low.
You are getting more and more wack, AG. Your meandering crap is getting old. What the fuck are you getting at? Politicians make political decisions. What the fuck do you expect?
What a stupid post, honestly.
Yes, “Politicians make political decisions.”
And political fanboys and fangirls…also known as sheeple…almost invariably represent those decisions as “morality-based.”
They are not morality-based. The American Empire is not “morality-based,” it is pragmatism-based…based on power, on the threat of death and destruction. Whatever seems most likely to make a profit is what is done, and only a change in the odds changes its policies. The U.S. has been running this two-faced game from its very inception.
Hmmmmmmm…
HMMMMMmmmm…
There will never, ever be anyone sitting in the Oval Office who has not totally signed into this ongoing scam.
Never.
Right-wing sheeple delude themselves…helped by the massive media propaganda control apparatus…into thinking that “their side” is morally correct. So do centrist and left-wing sheeple. But the truth of the matter lies far south of that delusion. Way down the river.
Realpolitik lives.
Bet on it.
It’s not going away very soon, if ever. All I am trying to do is reach a few people with the truth of the matter.
Why?
My own “Experiments With Truth,” I suppose.
Take it or leave it. As you must. i really do not care one way or another. All I can do is lay it down. It’s up to you to pick it up.
Or not.
Have a nice day.

Why did you bother posting that link? Do you really think you can make money spamming here?
I’m just offended he waited to hear of the results of the Battle of Antietam to do it.
Pure politics.
