Here’s the White House statement on the stupid Contempt of Congress vote today. It’s nice to know that we have 17 gutless Democrats in Congress. At least two of them (Mike Ross (D-AR) and Jason Altmire (D-PA)) aren’t even candidates for reelection, and they still voted to hold Holder in contempt. I guess, for them, it was a matter of simply not liking the dude. After all, they just held him in contempt for not turning over information that the president has asserted is covered by executive privilege. How is that for genius? Shouldn’t the president be the one held in contempt in those circumstances?
Wasn’t Darrell Issa a car thief who got rich by creating car alarms that actually work? Why, yes, yes he was.
My Congressman, I’m so proud of him. I defy any district to put up someone as venal.
nalbar
My Congressman walked out (“Not Voting”)
Bachmann.
‘Nuf said.
I was glad none in NJ voted for this.
Let’s not ignore the Voters Rights actions that are frying as the Congress tries to distract AG Holder.
Larry Kissell, who campaigned in 2006 as a populist also voted Aye.
Larry Kissell is a disgrace and a fraud. And can someone tell me why the DCCC hasn’t cut off all funds from any of the 17 that hope to remain in the House next year?
it went from 17 to 21 Dems who voted for the 2nd civil contempt citation:
Jason Altmire (Pa.)
Ron Barber (AZ)
John Barrow (Ga.)
Dan Boren (Okla.)
Leonard Boswell (Iowa)
Ben Chandler (Ky.)
Mark Critz (Pa.)
Peter DeFazio (OR)
Joe Donnelly (Ind.)
Kathy Hochul (N.Y.)
Ron Kind (Wis.)
Larry Kissell (N.C.)
Jim Matheson (Utah)
Mike McIntyre (N.C.)
Mike Michaud (ME)
Brad Miller (NC)
Bill Owens (N.Y.)
Collin Peterson (Minn.)
Nick Rahall (W. Va.)
Mike Ross (Ark.)
Tim Walz (Minn.)
DeFazio voted “No”. See the record:

Oops, cited the roll call on the first vote. Indeed on the second vote DeFazio voted “Yes”. See cite:

I’m pretty shocked to see Brad Miller on that list.
A bit surprised for Walz too. But maybe they thought he should have turned the documents over anyway?
Me too. WTF? But Miller’s gone at the end of this term. Re-districted out.
Barber is off to a horrible start as Gabby’s replacement. He’s going to have a tough shot at holding that seat in November if he keeps it up.
But if nothing had happend to Rep Giffords, doe sher record show that she would have voted differently?
she was definitely a Blue Dog, but the way this was moved to the floor in seven(?) days from committee, I think, would’ve had her voting no due to politics and then using it as a cudgel to really find out how the guns made it to the shooting site of BP agent Brian Terry.
of course, only she could answer that. barber is developing a base problem and the new AZ-2 will be more Democratic than his current district
barber is developing a base problem and the new AZ-2 will be more Democratic than his current district.
And who will have the brass ones to primary Barber, when the DCCC will throw their weight behind him?
State Rep. & Doctor Matt Heinz is already a primary candidate, but you’re right, the DCCC will protect Barber.
look at the bright side, dude…108 dem’s just decided it wasn’t worth showing up.
perhaps the others should have followed suit and avoided the whole kabuki, eh.
another meaningless piece of political theatre, brought to you by the teahadists.
I see Joe Donnelly was carrying a load of water for the NRA today and proving to be an apt replacement for Evan Bayh. The only alternative is this foul creature rumored to be a clone manufactured by Mitch Daniel’s mad scientists in the catacombs of the Indiana Statehouse in an experiment gone horribly wrong.
There’s a lot of contempt afoot, for sure, but it ain’t coming from Holder.
