Booman recently posted a piece called The Senate Doesn’t Work Anymore.

Duh!!!

In the comments section there were some really good ideas about how to “fix” the Senate and the rest of the sociopolitical continuum as well. However, unless (and until, hopefully) the corporate-owned media stranglehold on the minds of most Americans is broken, none of the worthy ideas offered there or anywhere else regarding “fixing” broken parts of the whole system will be put into effect.

Why?

Because in the eyes of the Permanent Government…really the .01%…the system has already been fixed.

Fixed in their favor.

Until I hear a real, grassroots movement start to rumble about “fixing” the media-induced trance state of most Americans, everything else is just empty theorizing and sad, useless complaint.

The media quite literally dictate who gets nominated for any electoral office of serious power in the U.S.

Thumbs up for their bought-and-sold representatives of any party and thumbs down for anyone who presents even a whiff of real change for the system.

Once they have a race going between two equally docile candidates, the whole fix can be operated in any number of ways.

And we…”we,” actually, because I woke the fuck up to this simple fact way back in Howard Dean territory…continue to blat and blather about “real change.”

I got yer real change. Right here!!!

Chump change.

Wake the fuck up.

Until the media are overthrown or at least seriously put in check…and this will not happen through any media-elected legislative body, bet on it…nothing whatsoever is going to change except the outward manifestations of the PermaGov’s desires.

People hoot and holler regarding the relative success or failure of OWS. Shit, folks!!! No street-based movement is going to prevail against the power of the U.S. PermaGov. Fuggedaboudit!!! As long as the military and paramilitary…also laughingly known as the “police”…are on the case, any and all such movements will be broken up way before they get to the Tahrir Square level. You can bet on that as well. But could the PermaGov send police into your home to compel you to watch the news? Read the print media? No, they couldn’t. Not because it is illegal or immoral…those sorts of ideas have never stopped their actions before. It would not happen because it would simply be too expensive.Too inefficient.

But never fear, sad media addicts…cheap and/or free media drugs will remain conveniently available from dealers who live right in your home. They’re available on the street, in banks, medical offices and fast-food provisioners poisoners everywhere in the country. Y’can’t walk down a street in the U.S. without seeing the “important” headlines.

Clomp on.

FOUR MORE YEARS!!!

FOUR MORE YEARS!!!

FOUR MORE YEARS!!!

And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?-William Butler Yeats,  1919

We are nearing 100 years since the prophet William Butler Yeats asked this question. And this will be the way the world ends.  (Forgive me, Master Eliot. Sumtimes ah jes’ cain’t he’p mahse’f!!!)

This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
Not with a bang but a newsflash.

Watch.

It’s all we can do, looks like.
