Mitt Romney doesn’t like getting blamed for the quick death of this man’s wife.
It’s a tough ad. Bain Capital took this couple’s health insurance away in 2001, so this falls into that category of events that Romney claims he is not responsible for because he was CEO-in-name-only while he was working on the Olympics.
But you and I both know that if Romney had been actually paying attention to what his company was doing in 2001, he so totally would have saved this man’s job, and his wife would have had the most awesomest cancer treatment EVAH!
Rmoney just doesn’t care unless you are one of the job creator’s
Wasn’t Mitt Chairman-in-name-only, Managing Director-in-name-only, and Sole Stockholder-in-name-only as well?
Yes, but the checks were still were honored at the bank.
I expect more and more of these to show up, because the rape, pillage, destruction, and devastation of company after company have left thousands of stories like this one. I would think that many of these people are very happy to stick a knife into Romney, since he stole their jobs, lives, careers, and health. I am looking forward to the next 3 months. We are going to learn a lot about the vulture theft industry.
this, along with STAGE, are two of the best Bain ads out there. lots of play for this one, please.
People talk about Bain using terms like “restructuring” and “private equity” and “venture capitalism”.
We need to redefine the terms used. The model for Bain is not a capitalist model. It is a model of rape and pillage. They use financial tools to basically take over a company (here you should imagine the takeover of towns in years past by invading armies, where the men were killed, the women were raped and then sold into slavery, all the valuables were loaded onto wagons, and all the buildings of the town were set on fire). After stealing everything possible, looting all the assets, and destroying the work force, what was left was sold to chumps.
This is not capitalism. This is looting. This is theft. This is the financial equivalent of total war.
Bain Capital uses basically the Viking model of capital development. Find a defenseless coastal town, invade in overwhelming force, kill every man, rape all the women, and steal everything.
All you need to do is show people this(NSFW) from Goodfellas:
It captures perfectly what Bain was/is.
Some venture capitalists actually provide equity funding for expansion of promising small businesses with the goal of making a market killing via IPO. This can be financially advantageous for the owners and the workers as well as the venture capitalist. What Romney did was different. There was a plan to dismantle the companies he bought rather than grow them.
Exactly.
The Sacking of America continues in Illinois. Bain hasn’t changed the R-money method of doing business in the least.
I’m going to be in the minority here, but I don’t actually like this ad very much. It demands too much outrage from the viewer and thus becomes ineffective.
Compare it to the “stage” ad, which I think is very effective. Why? Because it describes something for which Romney is directly responsible – humiliating the workers of the plant by having them build “their own coffin” and then firing them. In contrast, this ad attempts to blame Romney for something that is a follow-on consequence of his actions. I don’t think that is something that is likely to evoke anger in people who don’t already feel it.
Well it certainly hit a nerve at Redstate
Mitt Romney murderer is their title

Yep, they are sure up in arms. Best testimonial to the effectiveness of this sort of attack.
Squealing like pigs. I love it.
When I see stuff like this ad, I just think “Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy.” Yes, stuck pigs! Excellent!
