Did any of you see Mitt Romney’s little press conference? He seriously decided to insult the staff of the Cairo Embassy and attack the president, rather than sticking to expressing his condolences for the lives lost and the mourning family members and State Department employees. It’s the biggest jerk move I’ve ever seen from a presidential candidate. I’m angry. I’d like to run Romney out of the country on a rail.

Don’t forget the tar and feathers.
Saw it discussing
What a dick.
I find Josh Marshall’s take the most sober, accurate, and damning.
I’ve said it before. There is something just not right or well with the guy. I am not bright enough to know the name of the medical condition, but some people are not capable of feeling appropriate emotions or empathizing with others. It is a form of sociopath.
Its what causes him to put his dog on the roof, think the dog liked it, and even many years later still being incapable of imagining why anyone would have a problem with it.
Its why he can’t imagine why anyone would have a problem with making money the way he did or with destroying the companies, jobs and lives he did. It was legal. He made money. A lot of people made money. God likes money. What’s the problem?
Its why he doesn’t seem to think its a problem to change any position he has ever taken on anything. And why he has no problem lying. The effect it has on others is completely lost on him.
I don’t have any other explanation.
The fortunate thing is he is going to lose and we already have a president who is excellent in understanding the effect he has on people and their emotions. Its called being evolved and ironically it is a leadership skill the best business leaders have… at least business leaders who have to actually lead and motivate others and create actual wealth.
Not leaders who borrow buckets of money, jigger balance sheets, chop up companies, siphon millions into their pockets and then leave the debt for others to pay.
Never forget: To Romney, people outside his immediate circle are just head count. That’s all you need to know about him, to know he is utterly unfit to be president.
Mitt Romney looks at middle-class American workers and sees overhead that needs to be cut.
I didn’t think my regard for Mitt Romney could drop any lower. I was wrong.
If Romney was doing this on the Internet he’d be labeled a troll. I’ll bet that like a troll, he wants the President and/or his people to flame back. I hope he gets cold, calm scorn instead.
He’s simply demonstrating the same flair for diplomacy he showed on his Great Foreign Adventure this summer. He really, truly has no clue how he comes across – in a profession that virtually demands being able to read people as a core competency.
Romney is the first true post-Citizens United candidate, in that he became a major party’s nominee by using his enormous financial advantage without anybody really liking him. Today is just a really good reminder of why nobody likes him. Christ, even family dogs run away from the man.
When you’ve lost Dick Halperin???
Is this still good for John McCAin?
From TPM, quoting Halperin’s page:

Nice jab at Halperin there!! 😉
I didn’t think my already low opinion of Romney could sink any further, but it just did. Harry Reid was right: his father would be ashamed of this simpering shell of a human being he fathered.
This is the most despicable thing I have ever seen from a candidate. Beyond immoral. Romney is beneath contempt.
Was that the smirk that said “Mission Accomplished”?
Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. Shouldn’t have worked for GWB, but when TV pundits like Chris Matthews were blown away by what they perceived as the manliness of GWB under the Mission Accomplished banner, the narrative was fixed for another couple years. Take away all the slick window dressing and stagecraft for GWB and what remains is Mitt.
IOW, the smirk without the codpiece.
The story of the heroism of the Libyans who carried the Ambassador to the hospital, who stood and defended the Americans inside the embassy walls…that this Ambassador and the team he led had heroically helped the Libyan rebels not only oust Khadafy but then to form partnerships within the fledgling new government was the real story.
Romney entirely blanked on the meaning of what just happened. He’s making Feith look like a genius and Bolton moral.
Brilliant
When you’ve lost the Nooner herself, is it still good for John McCain.
Peggy Noonan: Romney is not helping himself with his political comments on Libya tragedy
Demonstrations called for Tripoli and Ben Ghazi today, and this tweet:
So much for the “ungrateful” narrative.
Jeez. Just appalling. He sounds like he’s taking questions (read: doing PR) after a contentious board meeting.
Blogs aren’t exactly rushing to give their respects to the Americans who lost their lives.
Blogs are conversations, not official responses of our government or of a campaign.
Nice non-sequitor.
Yes, it is nice. But it’s not a non-sequitor [sic].
Including the 10 Libyan security guards who died fighting off the mob?
Of course, if that’s what has happened. Apparently the US stories I’ve seen so far are traditional. They leave the deaths of non-Americans out of the story because they don’t count.
I can’t stand him. I don’t think I have ever felt so negatively about a nominee before. He really is deplorable.
I’m not disagreeing with you mostly, Mom, but were around for the 2nd coming of Nixon in ’68?
About the same feeling, but Nixon knew what he was doing. Same moral compass, tho.
I was alive but not aware of Nixon in ’68. It doesn’t seem like Nixon would have been quite this boneheaded in a similar situation.
Imitating old man Eastwood yelling at an empty chair? Because it was such a hit?
Time for Mitt to suspend his campaign to get an upgrade to his operating system.
Romney’s posturing on this issue is just despicable.
Well, simply incredible. Yes indeed, Obama “sympathizes” with the Islamist attackers who killed American diplomats and Libyan security forces. Based on what? Our Cairo embassy issued a prior statement that said America does not support religious intolerance against Islam—so obviously Obama hates American values! Who could doubt it?
Team Rmoney is apparently quite proud of itself over this appalling spectacle. It’s very hard to fathom, but they must think that this is how McCain failed—by not being brutal and contemptuous enough to the hated Obama. Their rabid “conservative” base is wild for any and every attack against Obama–however insane and baseless–to be pressed to the hilt. Thus no “opportunity” can be left unexploited–even the killing of a US ambassador by an angry mob is fair game for displaying Obama Hatred.
So today’s sorry affair makes crystal clear that Obama Hatred is the only thing Romney has left as a campaign “asset”. It’s all he has to offer the American electorate. Now that is a crappy, amoral person–bottom of the barrel.
Silly me but I thought it was an American value to practice religious tolerance.
You’d think if anyone would understand the value of toleration for a plurality of religious viewpoints, it would be a Mormon. But you’d be wrong.
I’m just waking up to this stuff. Is it just me or does this feel like a planned Neocon campaign? Like they actually organized the whole thing? They’ve got their talking points and they’re all sticking to them. This isn’t stuff you just cook up overnight.
I should add: If it was, I don’t think they’ll succeed and I don’t think they’re any good at this planning stuff (see War, Iraq.) But their PR people are good at stirring up The Stupid.
Israeli-American film-maker; 100 Jewish investors in the film project; anti-Muslim expatriate Egyptian Christians promoting it; religious entrepreneurial preacher who loves the idea of burning Qurans; Israeli Prime Minister and BFF of Romney impatient over US dragging feet on Iran; Republican neo-con PNAC team itching for war with Iran and key foreign policy advisers to Romney; history of Republican and businessmen dorking around with foreign governments during US presidential elections.
Seeing a planned neo-con campaign is just a conspiracy theory. Hopefully there are some real journalists out there trying to see if the dots really do connect or whether it’s just an optical illusion.
All the Wannabe President’s Men?
And now there are changing stories about the filmmaker and tying him closer to extreme anti-Muslim rightwing Christian groups.
Andy Borowitz: As reprehensible as Romney’s Libya comments are, it’s comforting to know that he’ll soon contradict them.
When the only people backing your play are Rinseus Repeatus, Newtron Bomb and Il Dunce, you have SERIOUSLY fucked up.

Tellin’ ya.
Shitheel.
You know, in order to be President, you somehow have to come across as presidential. Sometimes there is a moment when it becomes clear that an election is for all intents and purposes over. I think today was that moment.
Up until now, I thought the election could swing either way, but would probably swing to Romney because of the money behind him. But there are some candidates so awful that no amount of money can bail them out.
