Look at the cute little froggy my love muffin posted. 🙂
How long before this comment disappears, I wonder…
Anyways, it’s crazy season at work (ECTRIMS is coming, ECTRIMS is coming), so I’ve been very remiss abut posting a new cafe. But since I finally have a few minutes, and Finny is asleep, I’m catching up on all things bloggy. How are you all?
Um, just to clarify, BooMan logged in as me and posted a new cafe for me…but with my name.
it was love muffin that gave him away.
Right?
But now I’m confused — which one of them is really a love muffin?
Role reversal, I like it.
Being a disorganized person as well as bike rider, I do one organized bike ride each year – the Hope Ride. It supports the Hope, IN food bank, takes us through beautiful Indiana farm country, and provides wonderful homemade cookies at the rest stops. The temp at the start of the ride was chilly – about 50°F; at the end it was in the mid 60s. The wind was calm at the start and strong from whatever direction I was riding into at the end. The few car drivers that were on the roads with 2,000 bicyclists were friendly, patient, and gave us wide berth. I’m hoping for a few more rides before the weather tells me it’s time to hang up the bike for the year and switch to ice skates, but I’ll be happily surprised if any are as pleasant as today’s.
It was truly a lovely day for just about anything outdoors. The town was inundated with walkers and lookers. Don’t forget where the good parking spot is, if you’re forced to brave the town streets. Hope for the merchants’ sake there were some buyers as well. Glad you enjoyed your ride!
I see from the paper that the Nashcar races went well. Did you have a favorite you cheered on?
The Hills O’ Brown entry is a perennial favorite.
That’s really funny. Kudos to them.
The guy who spoofed Gene Simmons really got into the part. Can’t imagine why. Also wonder what Miss Indiana could be thinking at this point in her career? 😉
That’s hysterical.
I can see the thought bubble above her head, “Shelli Yoder really started out like this?”
LOL ~ I’ll have to run that one by Shelli when things settle down (ha!) after the election.
Here’s hoping she’s way too busy after the election to have the time to even think about fun stuff.
Sounds like perfect weather for a ride. I hope you get a few more like that in before winter starts closing in.
Up at 7:30 when I don’t need to be. Age has taken away my need to sleep much more than 6-7 hours.
When you really reach geezerhood, you’ll be fast asleep by 10 p.m. and wide awake by 4 a.m. 🙁
Pffft, 7.30. Andy is right.
I’ve been at the cabin for close to 5 weeks now. No rush with anything, any day. Still, I wake up some time between 4.15 and 5.30 every morning.
Fall is definitely here and I have to fire up the stove every day to maintain a reasonable indoor temperature. Back to Oslo on Thursday and to NYC in a week.
So lad to hear I’m not the only one…sorry about the erly rise, b2.
It is perfectly acceptable to use the “0” rating for trollish behavior in the FP threads.
Keep calm and carry on.
We took Finny for a late morning hike in the woods, where he climbed rocks, walked over an old trestle bridge with mom and dad, and had a lovely sugar cookie. Perfect preparation for a long afternoon nap!
And then I got some work done (trying to get a jump on the week ahead so it isn’t too crazy this week), and even squeaked in a three mile run. And now we have chili on the stove nd football on the teepee…too bad our fantasy team isn’t doing so well this year..
How was very one else’s day?
I wish that the soon to be 14 years old b2 boy would take a nap. This teenaged grouchiness is taking its toll…
I don’t know if this helps or not, but 13-14 was the worst age ever for both the CBs. The dark surly cloud of impending hormonal doom was almost more than we could bear some days. And remember our run-in with the middle school principal over CBtE’s sweatshirt?
It does end, it just feels like it takes forever. Hang in there!
Our eldest grandson has been at peak angst for several months, but there’s the new little one to raise the joy quotient. Not suggesting that’s a good answer for everyone, though, b2;-)
There’s no understimating the power of the baby brother to save the teenaged ones from extinction. 🙂
Too late for more kids, too soon for a grandchild. Unless there’s something I don’t know. 😉
Thanks. Hopefully this phase will end soon.
It was a normal day for me. But you seemed to have great fun!!

C-c-cold! Winter is on the way all too soon! Brrrr.
Its 55F here and raining. Had frost warnings out for our neighborhood last night, so rushed around to cover all the outdoor plants, so, of course, it didn’t happen ~ only got to 38F. The rest of the week’s predictions are for highs in the 70s, lows in the 50s. I’ll take it and be grateful.
Snuggling under the covers and not wanting to get up in the chilly air is awesome.

Pretty spot. I can’t wait to see some shots when the colors start to turn.
There are scattered trees in the woods that have already started, mostly maples and hickories. I think they are going early because of the drought — we’ve even had a few trees completely turn and drop their leaves.
I was noticing that the leaves have shifted from green-gold into more orange tones today. Sigh…
Loving my new iPhone 4, free now that the 5 has been released. Such a deal.
Just put the finishing touches on the current painting and started a new one. Woohoo!
Sounds like the perfect way to start 5773. 🙂
I can remember 5772 like it was yesterday…
Ever have one of those weeks?
Is the week finally over??? I feel like all I’ve done all week is work, with brief bursts of sleep in between. I can’t wait for this to be over.
Pretty much sums up my life.
Have a great day!
Ugh. Here”s oping we both get a bit more fun and a bit less work in the coming weeks!
Happy birthday to me! 29. Again.
Happy Birthday b2! At my age I’m happy to get an afternoon nap and a good dinner, not necessarily in that order.
Thanks ID!
Oops that’s what I get for trying to do comments on a smartphone — there’s a “have a great day” birthday wish up there that should be down here.
It’s all good. Thanks!
Happy birthday, although a bit belated! I hope it was a good day!
Happy belated!

It really does look like the moon.
No, seriously, give it a chance:
Heh ~ Mrs. ID would comment that someone has way too much time on their hands;-)
In the For What Its Worth Category:
I finished my English translation of Judge Simpson’s hearing for the temporary injunction on PA’s Voter ID Law.

Any that are interested, I did more or less the same thing with Judge Vaughn R. Walker’s prop 8 ruling

I’m getting a “nothing found”.
That’s because I am stupid.
Nah ~ Mike Fitzpatrick is stupid.

Ooh, it’s the light at the end of my tunnel… 🙂
I am so envious of your slackerly retirement this week.
Well if you want to retire, all you have to do is to be born a couple of decades earlier than you were. 😉
I’ll have to get to work om that. 🙂
Right now, I would like to retire from being the human alarm clock around here.
You could teach the dogs to pounce on people in beds on command.
That sounds like a plan. I’m sure BooMan will be delighted to be woken up with kisses, however sloppy and furry they are. 😉
Pretty but kinda scary .
Grey-scale makes this look ominous in a good way.
Let’s take a canoe trip.
Yes, please!
Beautiful day for it, for sure.
I’m all for it but our rivers are so low from the drought, it’s more likely to be a portage trip.
From a walk yesterday. We’re having a lovely fall season so far.

O, have you been walking in our woods?
Wear bright colors. It’s archery season for deer and turkey.
Gorgeous
Beautiful colors! Apparently, our leaves will be on the ground before the nice colors set in.
Its gorgeous and looks beautiful!!

I talked to him last night. The trailer he was living in burned and he lost everything but he and George are both okay. And it looks like he will be able to move into 1 1-bedroom apartment in some subsidized housing in town. George will have to go live with his sister, though.
Despite all that he actually sounded pretty chipper. One good thing is that the trailer was in an isolated area and now he will be in town.
And I’m glad he’ll be less isolated, but sorry that he lost everything and will have to send George to live with his sister. Is she close by to the new place at least?
It’s Friday! And 87% of what I was going to work on today got cancelled last night at 6 pm. Oh, how wonderful! I think I’ll be able to knock off early today and play with Finny or go for my run before the rain sets in.
They’re in the same town and the town isn’t that big so not too far.
I’m glad that he’s okay. It seems like he has the worst luck. At least there will be fewer snakes over there. 😉
BTW, I could probably send him an old laptop if he lost his.
He lost a laptop but it was ours (farewell old ibook). I’m sure he’d like to have another computer and I can let him know you have one on offer after he gets settled (and if he doesn’t rustle up one from somewhere else)
Thanks. I’ve got an old ibook that I’d be happy to send to him. I’ll do a fresh reload of the operating system.
It’s really nice of you to do that; he enjoyed having ours and was even doing some writing on it (I really miss his blog posts).
There’s no rush to do anything though — I’m pretty sure it’s going to be a week or two before he’s settled in anywhere.
When he does, can you email his address? Thanks.
Good to hear that FM and George came through the fire without injury, but sad for them both to lose their home and things like that. Hope life will be easier in town and maybe we will get an update from the library at some point, if he’s settled close by it.
If we don’t hear back from him, I’ll check on him in 2-3 weeks to see how he is doing.
No one could have predicted.
One of the younger ones decided we needed a fish:
Clearly he was ready for his close-up. 🙂
Everyone needs a fish.
One of our cats certainly agrees.
If you add stuff periodically, you might have a beautiful reef eventually, like KNUCKLEHEAD’S;-)
I’ll have to see if this particular little one is willing to save her pennies to decorate the fishbowl. At the moment, she’s still a bit gun-shy after deliberately disobeying Madame’s orders to not bring home a goldfish. 🙂
Good morning!
Back in NYC a week now. Certainly a contrast to where I spent the previous 5 weeks.
But I still love this city and its manifold diversities.
Breakfast in the CP Conservatory Garden yesterday:
The new tower at Mt Sinai Hospital
Nice pics! I was born in Manhattan but prefer the role of country bumpkin. Of course, I might as well be living in Idaho as far as my family is concerned .
Lovely shots, especially the flowers. Nice to see them as all the wildflowers are gone here.
It is the same here, but now we are waiting for the chrysanthemums in the park. Another week, or so.
Off to the Blessing of the Animals.
Picking up curly’s mother, whose nursing home is right across the street from St John the Divine.

Awe. Cute shot.
Hmm – not really.
A beautiful morning in NYC, blue skies and 46 deg.
Same weather here, just a little chillier. Wakes me right up when I go outside.
Diary up on “The Blessing of the Animals”.
Cute little frog. As if froggy is excited to be in the world.
40s here in the Hudson Valley. Too cold, too soon.

No coloring of the foliage yet?
This was take 9/22. We’ve got quite a bit of color now.
Not much color here yet, which is surprising given the reduction in temperatures.
44 degrees! Brrrrrr.
34 at our place this morning, but no frost to speak of yet. We moved the houseplant jungle indoors last Sun.
And for those with voyeuristic tendencies…
Good idea. We’re supposed to get a “hard freeze” on Saturday.
I can’t decide when peak color is going to happen. We had a lot of color early, especially maple, hickory, and sassafras trees, but now everything seems to have slowed down. Though if the trees that changed early drop their leaves before the other trees have turned, peak color could turn out to be a little off-color.
Todays’ theme is “Random — your pick” and Olivia will be along a little later this morning with the diary.
Morning.

That does look peaceful . Wish I was there now. Mondays suck.
Especially the very last, drop dead, final forever, absolutely no more federal tax extension Monday.
Because that’s the time of year when the desperate people pounding on your door aren’t folks wanting to know if they can park in your driveway?
Or is it because that’s when Mrs ID makes you work way too hard?
Both ~ the clients aren’t usually properly grateful, but I’ll at least get a home baked cheesecake from Mrs. ID for a bonus.
Speaking of parking in your driveway, how are the crowds in town? I haven’t been to the park but the colors here are really gorgeous.
It was jam-packed last Saturday with the nice weather and all the Ohio State fans coming in for the game. Lots of nice leaf color around here too.
We went down to Charlestown State Park yesterday which has some very nice hikes and definitely no crowds. The color there wasn’t nearly as far along as here — I don’t if they had more rain or it’s the effect of the Ohio River and the big Fourteen Mile Creek that flows through the park.

One of the best things about being retired — not having to hate Mondays. OTOH, there’s no more getting excited about the weekend.
The upside beats the downside. 😉
Its beautiful and looks like moon!!

Whenever I look at a beautiful moon I think “man, you know what would make this moon perfect? Stair treads.”

Best comment in the Cafe.
You have to get up pretty early to outdo SN;-)

Not only is the troll illiterate; it”s persistent.
I guess you meant to hand out a donut, Jim. But proof of illiteracy is also fun to watch.
We just heard that our niece who is in post-grad at Hofstra got picked to attend the debate. Look for the tall gorgeous blond…
Found a few pre-debate photos from around campus at Hofstra.

He’s got some ‘splaining to do.
Woke up at 5:00 a.m. to the irritating sound of our backup batteries beeping at us. And then were soothed by the wonderful sound of a standby generator starting up. Of course, it would be more wonderful not to lose power in the first place.
Not to mention the redundant wake-up call.
Isn’t it getting pretty crowded in here?
But it’s good to know that everything is working properly.
Had a nice walk in Central Park yesterday afternoon.
Beautiful shot!
I’d never get anything other than photography accomplished if I lived anywhere near NYC.
You’re onto something there. It’s tempting to bring the camera almost every trip outside (I recently ditched the old point-and-shoot and got a beginners Digital SLR, still pretty clueless about all its functions).
If you took that shot with the new camera, you’re well on your way. Very nice scene.
Good luck with the new cam. Learning curves are not so bad and the CPU’s and firmware in today’s cams take great shots without too much brain power. I think it gives more time to concentrate on subject matter rather than “do I have the correct exposure?”. Whenever we go out I’ll take something, it drives Mrs.X crazy.
Gorgeous! Yesterday was perfect, wether-wise.
Perfect picture for a new cafe. 😉
Point taken. 🙂
And yet here we are. 😀
Just going for a new record, I guess. 😉
I finally have a reason to use the end key.
Bet Finny could do it if he had a UID. Let’s see what he can do! 😉
If he can find the upload button on the lates version of photobucket, I would be thankful enough to post a ne cafe… Where the heck is it?
I see it all over the place. Green button, right up top on your “Home” page at Photobucket (I have the ‘pro’ version, maybe it is different for the free version).
It’s not showing up on my ipda, free version.
Looking from my computer now…
