that I can still open 2 cafes within the same week…how is everyone today?
I am looking forward to Friday. We are having a Drinking Liberally Philly reunion on Saturday afternoon/evening, and I am SO looking forward to seeing everyone in a Finn-friendly environment!
What’s on your calendar? And should we start doing recipe diaries in preparation for Thanksgiving? 🙂
You’re going to spoil us. 🙂
Thanksgiving is coming too early this year and I’m just not ready to think about it. And Hanukkah is early too and I definitely am not ready to think about gift lists.
Here yesterday
Gone today
I’m always sad to see a tree go. It was over at our neighbors and couldn’t talk him out of it. We’ll plant a replacement over in our back yard.
That’s sad (unless it posed some serious danger). What was his excuse?
Our neighbor (the Russian Church) just removed all the trees in our backyard (they were on their side of the fence). No birds in the branches to wake us up come spring.
He got it into his head that it might fall on the lawyer’s office next to him. He is a bit OCD. I’m sad about your trees, ask. They seem even more precious in the cities. Perhaps the birds will perch along the building instead and poop down the sides.
Well, I guess you will always want to be careful with a lawyer neighbor…
I’m afraid we’ll be left with pigeons only. The song birds will all migrate to the park. Fortunately, that is only half a block away.
What a shame. We lost some massive old trees in our area during Sandy.
That is truly a bummer. Even with all our trees, we are always a bit sad when a big old tree comes down (even as we are go “yay, look at all the firewood that’ll make”).
On a happier note, we went to our first DL with our OFA group. Had a great dinner and a good time with good people.
That sounds fun! I’m sorry about the tree, though.
Many years ago (pre-CBs) we lived in Philly on a side street near some train tracks, but with lovely trees to hide the tracks and overhead lines. When the Asplundh tree crews came through, the neighbors and I spent an entire week chasing them away from our trees (they completely removed the ones down the block from us, despite them posing NO THREAT to the train power lines), leaving a bare and ugly landscape)…no one would leave to run errands unless there was someone else home to guard them and shoo the Asplundh guys away. After a week of trying, they gave up.
Today they’d probably call the police on us and hack them down to stumps…
I think I’ll come down for a Flea Bitten Dawgs concert, and have myself a Diablo Burger.
Sheeet! Now I’m hungry, and drooling. Looks like a great place. However, didn’t see any Black Butte Porter (Deschutes Brewery) on the menu… you’ll have to rectify that!!!
Great beer list!
Had to address Madame. Boran’s speeding ticket tos am. Plead to a non moving, no points charge. Naturally, the fine was still substantial.
Ouch!
$130.00, but it’s okay because the judge said it wasn’t about the revenue. :::rolls eyes:::
I decided to look up photos of the Mobile-Tensaw delta…and realized there are alligators and critters there. Ugh.
At least the weather there has been good.
Alligators and other critters — how cool!
Gators are my version of ManEegee’s spiders…but I think the exposure to such a different ecosystem is cool.
Gators are no big deal, docile most of the time.
They will warn you with a hiss or a growl. This time of year it’s too cold for them to get out of their own way.
Yuck. The thought of one of those swimming under my canoe is too creepy…
Agree!
Great shot Bob. 🙂
Where did you get that shot of Dick Cheney?

Yay for short work weeks! Nice muted lighting with the celestial spotlight shining through the center. I miss the leaves already!
I miss the leaves too — except that it was nice to see the spectacular sunrise yesterday morning.
It would be hard to put into words how excited I am about the short week this week! Can’t wait for Wednesday and working from home while cooking up the cranberry sauce!
That’s a big problem with being retired; no more blissful joy over short work weeks … but I think I’m learning to deal with it. 😉
It’s hump day for me!
Happy humping! 🙂
I am looking forward to wfh tomorrow. I told my student intern she could work from home tomorrow too…cannot wait for the long weekend to start, and to see Finny’s nursery school turkey decorations today!
No doubt that he’s making a turkey from a print of his hand, a true kid’s classic.

* Not yet another hump day for many people
TFSMIF here 😉
Gobble, gobble. Gobble.
However each of us chooses to designate this day, I hope it is a good one.
Hope all who celebrate it have an enjoyable and
fulfilling holiday.Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Happy Family Day to all!
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.
Full house coming up for us this afternoon. Eleven people in a 1 BR NYC apartment. It will be interesting…
Happy Thanksgiving to all!
Hope everyone had a lovely day with good food, family, and friends! I am full…yet still wishing we had leftovers.
Good morning, pobrecita 🙂
A handful of friends will come over this pm to help us polish off the leftovers. The fridge is currently overflowing.
Wish that I could send some of ours to you!
I’m afraid the best thing I can about this year’s T’day is that it’s over.
But I sure hope everybody else who celebrated the holiday had a good one.
Early spring?
Spring like conditions in Central Park yesterday.
Global warming at work, no doubt.
I can see it clearly at the cabin in Norway. A lot more vegetation as a result of a longer growing season. Comparing pictures from ca. 1970 with the view today is quite revealing.
Witch hazel is blooming here, but that’s normal. It blooms in winter.

Here’s something to get your blood moving on a chilly Saturday ~ shot on the hottest day of last summer a little way down the road from our house.
Cool vid! Who’s your bro?
The carpenter ~ that’s what he is in real life as well.
That is some foot-stomping fun.
Cool stuff! Best video I’ve seen in a while.
