Hello again painting fans.
This week I will be continuing with the the painting of the vintage Hudson photograph. I’ll be using my usual acrylic paints on an 8×10 gallery wrapped canvas. The photo appears directly below.
When last seen, that painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.
Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.
I’ve continued to work on the body of the Hudson. After adding a layer of paint to the windows, I added the highlights on the black paint. Note that the inset body lenght crease along the sides is now defined by surrounding highlights. It is an important detail that I was worried about. Note also how the figure casts a shadow on the car. I’ve also addressed the tires, or at least I started to. The rear tire was difficult to place and size appropriately. I believe that I arrived at the right size and placement. In front, the tire will need much more work. That will hopefully been seen next week.
The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.
I’ll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.
Earlier paintings in this series can be seen here.
Paint me a picture of your thoughts.
I was thinking about the clarity of the sky last night, here on Eastern Long Island. It was so brilliantly clear, with big and bright stars looking as if they were racing north (although it was the clouds racing south on a stiff northerly wind) through the scattered, smallish white clouds that dotted the sky. But not so large as to cover the stars, the visible planets, and the 3/4 moon.
Also think of Tampopo, BostonJoe, Damnit Janet, Scribe, and others, frequently.
Many, many things painted in my mind and thoughts of late.
Best to you, Mr. B2
Fine work, as usual.
Best,
super
Hay ss! Good to see you!
Thanks for describing last night’s sky. I haven’t looked at a night sky in a while. Thanks for describing it.
Those are some old names. Janet comes around from time to time, the others not for a long time. But there are a fair number of us old timers still here regularly. 🙂
Ugh. I’ve repeated myself. Repeated myself. This age thing is making me crazy.
