If you want to predict what will happen in politics, here’s my best advice. See what I have to say about the matter in question and then pick the opposite outcome. My track record on such things is remarkably consistent.
Since I also expect Boehner to lose his bid for another term as Speaker, it’s probably a lead pipe lock that he keeps his position. I wonder if Vegas (or your local bookie) takes bets on House leadership elections?
Steven, don’t be so hard on yourself. You might have missed this one, but one thing is for certain, buddy……….you ain’t no Dick Morris!
Yes, that’s true. What a silver lining.
85 Repubs voted for the Senate Bill. 151 Repubs voted against the bill along with 16 Dems. 8 members did not vote, including, oddly enough, Ron Paul and four other Republican.

Orange Julius keeps his Speakership because, while it’s true that he’s lousy at it, a large part of that is because he’s leading the batshyt crazy – and that wouldn’t change even if they dumped him
I wonder if Cantor’s shenanigans last night was the beginning of a heave against Boehner, which Boehner saw and that sparked Boehners capitulation on the Hastert rule.
Interesting thought
I could offer you my opinion but we all know what that is worth, lol.
But should be interesting tomorrow when they swear in the new Congress and the election for Speaker goes full bore. Popcorn time I suppose for those so inclined.
Cheer up. You do tend to predict the worst so we all feel pleasantly surprised when the outcome is slightly better.
After last night’s vote, I’m thinking Boehner hangs on only because the Tea Party crowd can’t agree who to put up against him. Too many ambitious folks (with that being their sole characteristic.)
Don’t feel bad, no one in DC is acting rationally anymore.
It will be fun to see how divided they are on Speaker. Boehner has few allies, the tea party can’t get the speakership, and Cantor is a bully rational(?) GOP hate.
Pass the popcorn!
