Because a rumor was spreading on the Internet, I searched for the implications of Saudi clerics and their sermons on Syria. This Saudi cleric stood out: Sheikh Muhammad Al-Arifi. The Obama/Clinton administration doing the Saudi religious enterprise bidding in Syria?
New jihadist group emerges in Syria
(LWJ) Dec. 28, 2012 – Jund al Sham (Soldiers of the Levant), a new Salafi jihadist group in Syria, announced its formation in the Syrian city of Homs on Dec. 23, in a statement published on the group’s Facebook page, according to the SITE Intelligence Group. Jund al Sham’s media arm, Sada al Sham, also released two subsequent statements announcing the goals of the group, SITE reported.
The group’s emir is identified as Abu Suleiman al Muhajir; his nom de guerre — Muhajir, or ‘immigrant’ — indicates he may be a foreigner. His real identity is unknown.

Abu Suleiman al Muhajir’s short statement indicates that the group is focused on jihad in Syria. From the SITE translation:
After the hoards of the al-Assad gangs, and their Rafidah [Shi’ite] allies, united and attacked Muslims in Syria, it became incumbent upon the monotheists from among the Sunnis who chose the path of jihad and fighting the disbelievers in all their forms and types, to unite on supporting the truth with harmony and love among each other, while rejecting disbelief, and demanding a goal without deviation or backing out ….
However, in one of the two other statements released by Jund al Sham’s media arm, another official, Abu Abdul Rahim al Muhajir, suggests that the group is supportive of jihad in other theaters outside of Syria. Again, from the SITE translation:
These are words of support for Jund al-Sham, who rolled up their sleeves of seriousness and wanted to join the convoy of jihad that is ongoing until the Day of Judgment, which no one would miss except those who have an excuse or lost their way.

The heart of Islam is al-Sham and its covenant is ruling by Islam
The spectra of the Syrian political opposition abroad have begun to declare pacts and covenants for the future Syria as they see it. The Syrian National Council and others announced in Istanbul yesterday, 27/03/2012, what they called the “National Pact for the future Syria”. Before this, on 25/03/2012, the Muslim Brotherhood in Syria announced a similar covenant which they called “the Covenant and Pact”.
These pacts have in common the intent that Syria becomes a democratic state in which people legislate their own laws, permitting and prohibiting as they wish, instead of legislation and the right to prohibit and permit being for the Lord of the people, the Lord of the Worlds. They also intend Syria to be a secular civil state, in which religion is separated from public life. In such a case, Islam would not be the centre of life, the director and base of laws and canons. The flag of truth, the flag of ‘There is no deity save Allah, and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah’, would not be raised. They intend a Syria with man-made laws as a civil republic, not much different from how it is now, except for a change of faces or some cosmetic adornment!
It would not have been surprising had secular opposition parties demanded a secular democratic state, whereby humans legislate and wherein judgment is sought from the laws of East and West, but not the laws of Islam. This would have been understandable had it come from secular movements. However, the painful fact is that it comes from movements branded as being Islamic! So the matter is graver and the danger is greater.
The people of al-Sham did not expend their pure blood, make those great sacrifices, rise up from the masajid shaded by the reverberations of takbeer, raising the call of truth to return to how they were, ruled by the laws for which Allah سبحانه وتعالى has not sent down any authority! They will not accept that their blood goes to waste or that their sacrifices go in vain. Nay, they will not be content with having other than the rule of Islam, for they are the people of al-Sham, their land is the heart of the abode of Islam. The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم said,
أَلَا إِنَّ عُقْرَ دَارِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ الشَّامُ”، “عُقْرُ دَارِ الْإِسْلَامِ بِالشَّامِ
“Behold, indeed the heart of the abode of the believers is al-Sham” (Ahmad), and “The heart of the abode of Islam is al-Sham” (Tabarani).
This will be a matter of reality by the leave of Allah, in spite of the enemies of Allah and what they desire.
Cont’d below the fold …
O Muslims in Syria!
It is clearly apparent in these pacts and those from whom they come that they seek to please the West. Hence they do not mention the rule of Islam, in an Islamic land, or the state of Islam, the Khilafah Rashidah. Thus, there is nothing in these pacts said for the sake of Allah. Rather, it is all so that the West remains appeased! The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم said,
“He who displeases Allah in pleasing the people, Allah will be displeased with him and will make displeased with him those whom he seeks to please through displeasing Allah, and he who pleases Allah in displeasing the people, Allah will be pleased with him and will make pleased with him those whom he displeased through seeking the pleasure of Allah, such that He will adorn him and his word and deed in their eyes.” (Tabarani)
Where are these covenants with respect to the covenant of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم when he came to Madinah wherein he declared,
“The blood of the Muslims is equal; the least and lowest of them can offer their protection and vouch for their security, and they are one body against all others.” (Ibn Majah)
Shaikh Muhammad Alarifi delivers emotional khutba on 19-02-1433 – My sights in Syria
The Syrian System threatened Shaikh Muhammad Al-Arifi and other speakers and scholars to be killed. They are threatened by kidnapping their families, burning their houses because of their campaign of giving victory to Syria on different TV channels such as Iqra, Al-Weesal, Safa, Al-Burhan, Al-Hikmah, Syrian Nation TV and others . Imams and scholars were also threatened in case they left Saudi Arabia to be tortured like they are torturing Syrian imams inside Syria. And he said in an interview ” it is an honor for me to die for the sake of Allah and for giving victory for our sisters and brothers in Syria. Is there a greater and more honourable death that the death for the sake of Allah. What a humiliated life that a man hold into when his sisters are being raped and his brothers are oppressed and their dignity and religion is trampled over. Is there a bigger shirk than their saying there is no God but Bashar, we wont be silent on that till we give our souls for the sake of this cause.”

Lately I have been bothered by sanctimonious writing on the Syrian conflict, calling jihadists and foreign fighters “revolutionaries” [sic]. This pompous joy over the economic growth in the Emirates [HR abuses] as one exponent – From Dubai UAE, a little good cheer for us all from a bright spot in the Middle East. In another article falling for GCC propaganda …

“The 1953 CIA-sponsored coup that put the Shah back in power in Iran, and the subsequent build-up of SAVAK, the Shah’s brutal internal security force, are certainly black marks in our Cold War history.”
A number of family members worked fot Aramco when the company had engineering staff in The Hague. Later it became fully owned by Saudi Arabia. Many Dutch employees were part of the joint Netherlands-Palestine committee. In the past decades a number of events shaped the role of the Saudi King and the relationship with the outside world. For the Brits and Yanks who helped run Aramco, one event will always be remembered. It was a terror strike inside Saudi Arabia on an International School targeting the children of the foreign workers employed by Aramco. Ever since, domestic terror worsened and turned outward toward the leading western countries.
One remark I will always remember was made by a real American oil man, worked closely with Saudi colleagues for 25 years. He said with much regret: “If there comes a moment of trouble in Saudi Arabia I will have to fend for myself. I still don’t know if I could put my life in their hands. Saudi’s I consider a friend, I just don’t trust them completely.”
The US and their Atlantic partners have failed miserably in foreign policy in the period of the Cold War. The US politicians have a vision of 2 years max, the next election. The Israelis and the Arabs live in biblical terms and set their vision for at least the next century. That is why old European colonial powers who have messed up in the 20th century can not communicate on equal terms with the vision of leaders in the Middle-East. The Obama administration has taken a laissez-fair position in the Arab Revolution. As I have written, due to the failure of the Iraq invasion and consequent upheaval in the Middle-East, new regional powers are filling the gap. As the Arab monarchs live by Islamic teaching and Sharia Law, the western world will experience minorities will be persecuted in the coming years.
I would have strongly prefered to have build friendship with the Iranian people tha the new reality of Sunni jihadists running wild in North Africa and the Middle-East. Be assured, these have the backing of Sunni charities in Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the GCC countries. Listen to the Saudi preachers …
At the Jerusalem Post I read an opinion piece written by an American living in Israel. An interesting interview about his new book all about American politics and US-Israel relations.
All these elements play a role why I believe Obama made the right choice with John Kerry, Chuck Hagel and John Brennen, his “dark side.”
