It’s Inauguration Celebration Day and Martin Luther King Jr. Day all wrapped in one, so I need a thread a little more upbeat than the last one. You know, I’ll actually write something here in a bit, but I don’t want my front-page being a total downer. Here’s the first family today:
How are y’all feeling this morning?
Feeling good. Just working. No day off for me.
Wondering what Mitt Romney is doing today.
Wondering when all these people are going to start fleeing the country who said they would if Obama was reelected. I’ll help them pack (it’s the bleeding-heart thing to do, ya’ know).
Wondering how soon Ted Nugent will be either dead or in jail.
I’m thrilled. Scaled back or not, this is a triumphant day for Democrats and for our President and his family. In 2009 I sat here on this sofa and cried tears of joy as Obama was sworn in. I intend to do the same today.
[ snark ] they need to dial down the color saturation for that photo….my eyes are bleeding, when it should be my Liberal heart [ snark]
Did I REALLY hear Obama say “the decade of war is over”? REALLY?! Did he withdraw from Afghanistan while no one us looking? Did he stop bombing Pakistan? Have the drone bombings ceased?
Unless there was some context I missed that clarifies that statement, then this is a perfect example of the reason I don’t listen to political speeches.
OK, I found a transcript, and what he actually said was “A decade of war is now ending.” Really? So, when does the U.S. stop killing Afghans and Pakistanis on a regular basis? Is there a plan to turn the drones from killing machines to some purpose that benefits humankind? Does Obama have a plan to pull special forces and CIA operatives out of Iran? Will he stop supporting the Free Syrian Army?
I can’t wait!
