I wish I could make a quick hundred grand by being an idiot.
When Marco Rubio paused to take a sip from a water bottle during his response to the State of the Union this week, it become an instant viral sensation. The Florida Senator has now capitalized on the moment to raise more than $100,000 for his Reclaim America political action committee by selling branded water bottles.
A source close to Rubio tells BuzzFeed that the water bottles, which were sold on the senator’s PAC website to anyone who makes a donation of $25 or more, sold like hotcakes. In the period since they went on sale Wednesday, more than 3,100 of the PAC’s “Marco Rubio Water Bottles” have been sold.
“Send the liberal detractors a message that not only does Marco Rubio inspire you…he hydrates you too,” the donation page reads.
Sometimes I wonder if there is any hope for us.
It is a smart move to turn a negative into a positive, and it is liberal commentators who are trivialized if they focus on the optics of his furtive drink of water rather than on the stupidity of the substance of his remarks.
Of course there is hope for us. And today, operators are standing by. You can get the Hope for Us (TM), in the giant family size bottle, at the low, low price of 9.99 per bottle per month for the next 6 months.
But wait, there’s more.
If you act now, the first 599 customers will get a giant family size bottle of Old Time Religion, in the convenient gel-caps, which means that you can have that religious conversion experience WITHOUT the indigestion that is often encountered.
Call NOW!!! 1-202-222-1234.
Well, I think the furtive drink of water tells a lot about the guy – and I think it expresses in gestures and body language his lying and crookedness, but that aside, we really don’t know how many bottles of water were bought those who can most afford them, i.e. the 1%. It’s not without precedent for 1% ers to make such generous purchases (of right wing books, for example). Now that Rubio is already the republican standardbearer does this mean we’re already in the clown-car phase of 2016?
Hey, the more conservatives distract themselves with silly little “culture war” stunts like this, the further ahead progressives can get.
Since when is selling 3,100 of anything equal selling like hotcakes? (cough)Apple(/cough)
Makes you wonder if his reach for the water bottle was more about remembering his contract for product placement for the water company kicked in and he suddenly had to get that bottle of water on the air or risk breach of contract. These people don’t do anything for free.
Very good! I missed that possibility completely.
Send the liberal detractors a message…
I love how they’re always sending us messages. Have you ever had the urge to “send the conservatives a message”? I don’t think liberals tend to think that way. Maybe because we recognize that messages such as “3,100 people bought Marco Rubio water bottles” are neither interesting nor intimidating.
Course the bottles were probably made in China, high in BPA and filled with tap water. Drink up you fools.
considering the ConserviTard attitude towards federal rules on water purity, it shouldn’t be plain old TAP water!
No no no…tap water enriched with ARSENIC, LEAD, and PCBs.
AKA, “GOP tea”: serve it up to the teatards; bottoms up!
“Sometimes I wonder if there is any hope for us.”
For us? Yeah, I think so. I mean, I didn’t buy any Rubio water, and I sure don’t think you did.
It all depends on what you mean by “us”. The thing you have to remember is, there are already a lot more of “us” than there are of “them”, and that trend is going to continue. So I don’t think there’s much hope for them. Which means there IS hope for us.
Ah, back to the “Reclaim America!” shit.
I guess we’ll hear this crap until they get a “conservative” back in the WH.
fill a plastic water bottle with horse piss, then mail it, with appropriate MSDS to Marco’s office, with a note informing him that the bottle was sent so he could sell it.
Remember when thinking bottled water was so meshing trendy Californians did because they were afraid of what might be in public water? And the right made fun of them?
Now the right defiantly drink bottled water while making fun of those who are concerned about the carbon footprint each bottle makes as well as the other associated health and ecological risks.
