Reminds me of a story about Yitzhak Rabin. (It may be as factual as the Oscar nominated historical movies.) On seeing the man he considered his enemy, a young Palestinian boy was struck by the ordinary watch (perhaps a Timex) that Rabin was wearing. He struggled to work out how such a powerful man couldn’t afford a diamond encrusted gold watch like his leader Yasser Arafat wore.
Politicians and leaders in democracies incapable of living within their means, not sticking their hands in a cookie jar, and disrespecting the notion of public service, should find another line of work.
The other reason this diary is titled “Oscar Free” is that I have no opinion on what and who will win on Sunday. Mostly because I have yet to see most of the nominees.
