Those of us that can remember back to early 2003 watched the one man that could have stopped the insanity of a war with Iraq choose not to do the right thing. Because the doing “right thing” is rarely as easy as the alternative. Tens of thousands of lives lost and four trillion dollars squandered because when that man’s courage was tested, it was shown not to exist.
At the Socialism 2013 Conference, Jeremy Scahill and Glenn Greenwald speak of courage when one has the opportunity to do the “right thing.” And who and what those that trash such messengers serve. It’s worth the fifty-four minutes to listen.
Once it gets going that is pretty impressive stuff; it is all about journalism. Not the Glenn Greenwald I have been hearing so much about from other sources lately.
A good rule of thumb is always to get primary source material whenever possible and form one’s own impressions.
This did much to relieve my anxiety about Greenwald’s “libertarian” reputation. Have yet to sort out how so many men, mostly younger, have an affinity for or some alliance with Ron/Rand Paul. Not the Breitbart/Norquist bigots that fall well within the ranks of Paul Republicans but those that share nothing with the Pauls other than being quasi-isolationists and Federal Reserve phobic. (Oh, they also misread the Pauls as supportive of marijuana legalization.)

What happened to this BooMan?? Excellent frontpage story – A Conspiracy of Patriotism.
Well, at least he’s consistent in his opinion of whistleblowers:
He no like them — but if they “embarrass” a GOP POTUS that’s okay. And if anything truly illegal is going on, he’ll wait for a new “Church committee” before he’ll agree. As if the Church committee sprung up out of nowhere because a good Senator decided to investigate the FBI when it was the culmination of Watergate and whistleblowers like Ellsberg.
