This falls in the categoty of no shit, Sherlock.
Said one GOP aide: “It’s the House of indecision. We don’t have the votes for a big deal, small deal, or short-term deal.”
Thankfully, the president isn’t negotiating with these buffoons anyway. It would be a colossal waste of time. Perhaps they would accept a warm batch of cookies and some milk.
Buffoon is def the right word for people like Bachmann.
Ok, is it okay to call this BS moronic!

Definitely moronic or paranoid.
I see the WH is getting really tired of the MSM false equivalences…
BOOM!!! lol–>Jay Carney smacks down ABC’s Jonathan Karl: `I’m sure you’ll represent’ GOP talking points http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2013/10/07/jay-carney-smacks-down-abcs-jonathan-karl-im-sure-youll-repres

I love the snickers from the other reporters. I also love Carney for asking the Reuters reporter to refute Karl, AND HE GOT THE REPORTER TO DO SO.
Actually, I think diapers are more in order. I hear they have a colleague in the Senate who has an extensive supply they might borrow. If they don’t mind used ones, and I’m sure they don’t.
Are you sure the White House isn’t negotiating?
White House open to short-term hike in debt limit – US News | Latest US News Headlines | The Irish Times – Mon, Oct 07, 2013
This must be what is causing the “Obama caving” meme I’m hearing in some circles.
It’s not a cave- there has been no report that Obama is offering anything at all in return. And Carney has been saying over and over that he never will.
I agree with your assessment, but the it does explain the “cave” crowds rationale even if it is erroneous
Here’s the gist of it:
The Senate Democrats (especially Reid) apparently were not happy.
I hope that this gaffe costs Sperling his job. The job of the Democrats right now is to keep their mouths shut as much a possible unless they are turning the screws.
Politico is also trying to stir up the Senate Dems are divided nonsense. IMO just to get a media posse to put pressure on the Senate Dems and take it off Boehner.
In case you missed my point, Sperling just made his job “nonessential” for this crisis.
yes, I followed Frank’s link and it went into a loop with no sourcing or details for Sperling’s remark.
I think not nearly enough people have been questioning the ability of the House Republicans to actually conduct negotiations in their current state. Boehner couldn’t deliver their votes for a Grand Bargain in 2011, and since then the Democrats have been emboldened by a major win in 2012 and Boehrner’s control over his own caucus has deteriorated.
I don’t see why they’re fooling anybody but their own base and the most brain-dead of the Villagers (:cough: Ron Fournier :cough:).
demonstrated chronic gop impotence is a point that hasn’t been iterated often enough. they talk and squawk a big game but neither extremists nor so-called moderates can ever quite deliver. the only thing they can agree on is the hostage-taking — but what are they gonna do with the hostage … ???
Its been a long, long time since I last read any O. Henry, but this:
There you go. That’s the way the results should work.
I wonder if the Dept of Treasury might simply ignore the debt ceiling and continue paying obligations in spite of Congressional masturbation…What other way would tell the TeaBirchers they don’t matter in the big picture?
The 14th Amendment must be kept…and consequences for putting the full faith and credit in danger must be determined..
It is the law, but quite honestly I don’t see the point of it. Either its an empty formality, or it’s a gratuitous invitation to make trouble.
Just another piece of crap drawn up by some Republican know-nothing nearly a hundred years ago.
I’d really like to see the debt limit tested in court. Now you may say the Court is right wing (and it is), but they vote consistently pro-Wall Street and Wall Street would like to see a SCOTUS decision that said T-bonds must always be paid no matter what else is happening.
Yes .. because Roberts does what ever the Chamber of Commerce tells him. Always.
IDIOTS! So the GOP Senators are gonna “filibuster” giving furloughed workers backpay…wow. That’s fine, but umm…optics.
Republicans to block quick passage of back-pay bill
Cornyn’s up next year. Burr in 2016.
Passing a clean debt limit may become the issue that forces Reid to go nuclear.
Reid will never go nuclear.
I think there may just be the six votes for a clean debt limit rise in the Senate: Kirk, Murkowski, McCain, Ayotte, Kirk and Chisea.
Unless there’s another Kirk other than the one sitting in Obama’s old seat, you’ve counted one Senator twice. Does that make five or is it a typo?
Collins?
Yeah, Collins is the one I was thinking of.
Murkowski is the only one of that bunch that might actually walk the walk instead of tease the talk.
Yeah, I’ll bet she lives to dick over the Tea Party after they primaried her. When you shoot at the queen, you better not miss.

Well that makes sense. Canada doesn’t have a debt limit.
That’s a pretty strong snort of Koch he’s got there

@fuckwit:
Yes.
I’ve said it before; health care is one of their few tools of control that TR, FDR and LBJ didn’t take away from them when they created the American welfare state. It’s not just “the leverage,” it’s the only leverage of its kind, apart from perhaps education, that they have left. They’ve spent the last century watching their slavemasters’ whips being taken away from them one by one, and now we’re coming for their last one. No wonder they fought it so energetically for all these decades, and no matter they’re so fucking desperate now.

The Cuccinelli camp are using tried and true “blame pollster” strategy on this one.
Pretty damn rough out there.
So after a number of polls it appears that people hate president Obama’s actions during the shut down, really hate Democrat’s actions during the shut down, and really REALLY hate Republican’s actions during the shut down. 50% disapproval, 60% disapproval, 70% disapproval!
Sorta, putting it in order of World War I belligerents, UK, France-Russia, Germany-Austro-Hungary.
So for how long is this “accidental” war putting us in the trenches? I see Ted Cruz is still trying to earn his manhood in battle.
Until sometime after default.
Thanks, Tarheel. Now I’m wondering how a dick can earn his manhood. The visuals aren’t pleasant.
