Old-age has not mellowed Richard Viguerie in the slightest. He predicts a “bloodbath” for Republican incumbents in the 2014 primaries. And now Tom DeLay is calling for the same thing.

Of course he wants a bloodbath. Viguerie is like the founding father of wingnut welfare and king of the grifters. I thought he was dead, though.
The old time grifters are back…back on the block. They saw Dick Armey get 8 million for doing exactly what?
Yes they are nuts.
But, these examples are instructive for Democrats when dealing with Republicans.
If you think Republicans can be reached through logic, common sense, and a sense of greater community good – you are an idiot.
Republicans have always fed on each other with vigor in the spirit of blood sport that Democrats simply don’t seem to understand.
That’s why they fear being primary-ed. It’s not a theoretical abstract concept that’s become faddish. Ask Gerald Ford, Enzi, George HW Bush, past candidates for president of the College Republicans. Heck, ask Newt Gingrich or Charles Halleck.
These people have no limits on dirty underhanded tricks they play on each other. When it comes to dealing with Democrats why would they behave any better? And why would Democrats think they could depend on their goodwill any more than their fellow Republicans can? Grover Norquist, Lee Atwater, Karl Rove? The Kochs, Viguerie, Buchanan?
Republicans are the rabid pit bulls of politics and should be handled accordingly.
Reading that was chilling. If the TPers have learned nothing and are just going to keep doubling down, where does it end? We could be headed toward outbreaks of violence, even a civil war.
It ends with Tea Partiers losing elections and not gaining power. It ends because the economy continues to improve (however slowly). It ends because 4 million potential voters turn 18 every year and they lean Democratic 60-40. It ends because 3 million mostly elderly citizens die each year, and they lean Republican 55-45.
That’s one possibility. But if they really do primary every reasonable voice in the Republican party, the chilling effect could be enough to result in the government shutting down next time. We could see the end of the dollar as the world’s fiat currency. We could see an international great depression. They could do a lot of damage on their way out.
I suppose so. But Boehner and McConnell already had primary opponents when they acted to end the government shutdown and raise the debt ceiling. And they’ve both made it pretty clear that they’re not going to block a debt ceiling increase next year either.
Naaaahhhh…they’re mostly too old for violence, and certainly too old to produce a “civil war.” Guerrilla actions like the Oklahoma City bombing from some of the younger ones? Maybe. But a real Syria-level civil war? Who would their troops be? The Grandma Brigade? I think not.

Richard Viguerie has attacked every Republican president in my life time.
He said Reagan was a traitor to conservatives – during his first term.
Viguerie is like Phyllis Schlafly – they have a lucrative rightwing shtick that only needs tending to every once in a while. In their times away from the public action, those on the left assume they have either retired or died. Like Billy Graham, they’ll likely live on by having family continue operating the business.
The fart in the room that Delay and his confederates won’t acknowledge publicly is that the Mitt Romney defeat last year, in a perverse way emboldened many TeaTards because it was proof to them that heaps of money couldn’t get their man elected. Ergo, in an odd twist on things that Delay and company seem to be operating under, maybe even unconsciously, is that they can accomplish their goals without heaps of corporate backing, because, look what happened to Romney.” All that cash infusion at the last minute had little effect, so don’t be scared of big money establishment power brokers like Sheldon Adelson, because grassroots organization trumps big finance if your convictions are strong enough.” All of this would be noble in a way (going it alone without “the man’s money”) if their goals weren’t so unbelievably stupid and whack.
Plus, Romney wasn’t really their man. So the lesson to the baggers is that big money isn’t that important, but a “pure” emulsion of stupid and fascist will be enough to save the day. I think there’s a better than even chance that the professional grifter wing of the party will dig in even deeper with the hopeless crazy.
Ted Cruz is certainly trying that tactic ……..
Well according to the rich they don’t want the government involved in anything anyways such as regulations so a shutdown wouldn’t bother them. Republicans outnumber the Democrats so that’s one disadvantage they need to focus on.

Bahahahahaha.
More Richard Mourdocks please, Mr. Viguerie.
