Well, if our goal is to get to the bottom of why the Christie administration decided to shut down two access lanes to the George Washington Bridge, this isn’t very good news:
Even now, after Mr. Christie’s denunciation of her, friends of Ms. [Bridget Anne] Kelly said she sounded as devoted to him as ever.
“Her unrequited loyalty is not wavering,” a friend said.
I wonder if she will feel the same way when her lawyer explains her legal predicament.
What about the guy who looks like an extra from the Watergate hearings – Wildstein? I question how firm his loyalty will be when facing criminal charges.
Omerta isn’t really about personal loyalty.
Translation: The deal is done and the fix is in. She cops to a “misjudgment” of some kind. Maybe she does a little time, maybe not. Lots of bought and sold judges in NJ. Bet on it. Then she gets a good gig somewhere out of the limelight. Watch.
PermaGov business as usual.

Kelly’s problems remain manageable for her only if the charges remain local to NJ. What happens when they broaden into Federal charges? She’s going to have a problem anyway without a job, because her next two years will be occupied with appearing before investigating committees – with legal counsel in tow. Who pays for that counsel, with no income? Until her status gets resolved, she won’t be offered a new position anywhere, including a wing-nut welfare slot somewhere. They can’t take the risk that she gets convicted following her hire on and bringing their enterprise into question. She can’t even file for unemployment, and, if she collects any, that will be yet another scandal.
i do not believe that the feds will effectively prosecute her. Why? Because the Obama administration and the majority of Democrats and Republicans in positions of non-executive national power are dedicated PermaGov centrists. Christie is the great white hope…or perhaps should I say the great white whale…of the centrist faction of the Republican Party. No one on either side of that broad centrist aisle wants to see even the remotest possibility of someone winning the White House who is extremely left-wing, extremely right-wing or…in the case of the Libertarians…extremely opposed to big government and thus dangerous to both sides. They may make a showy pass at her just to keep up appearances, but get right down to it? C’mon. You have to know that the NSA and other three-letter so-called security agencies most likely have all the hacked dope that they need to sink anybody in the higher reaches of politics. They probably have her cell phone transmissions as she sat on the toilet talking to friends about shoes or movies. Hell…they probably have yours and mine. Please.
They won’t do shit. Why should they? It’s Christie vs. Hillary Clinton in 2016…either way a win/win for the centrist PermaGov, bet on it. Why rock the fix boat?
Watch.

Interesting that it’s become, to her, a validation of her loyalty. The word loyalty shouldn’t even be a part of the discussion unless and until it becomes a conspiracy involving his unrequietedness.
While I share the pessimism of a lot of people here, it’s still early in the game. Christie’s enemies are not only across the aisle. There are a lot of Republicans who’d be happy to thin him from the herd before 2016.
The game is afoot.
She may be heartbroken now, but that’s going to turn to hatred really quickly.
She’s going to get mad soon. And everything about that article tells you it’s coming.
“Determined to proved people wrong.” Do you think she’s going to allow herself to be defined as a stupid liar?
Doesn’t sound like someone who’s comfortable as the fall guy?
If i were Christie, the following would keep me up nights:
Working for Christie cost Kelly her marriage, and THIS is how he repays her? Someone who “having paid her dues, became more brusque… and seemed to relish administering political payback”?
Yeah, good luck with THAT governor. Unrequited loyalty, like unrequited love, eventually gets ugly.
which Russo was that?
Kelly’s not a victim. She’s among that cadre of Republican women that followed the Phyllis Schafly model. Pop out a bunch of kid and get a high paying, prestigious job as well. Mega-sense of entitlement. Who raises all those children is a mystery.
Kelly only deviated from the script by divorcing her husband. Suggests to me that there is another man in the picture.
Tend to doubt that she was privy to the full details of the plot, but with an inflated sense of self-worth, that could easily have escaped her notice. Not as dumb and lazy as Palin but as ambitious and disparaging of those not like her and hers.
another man in the picture…strangely loyal to christie…
now I need to go get some brain bleach.
heh — your imagination, not mine. Seems unlikely that a good Catholic girl like Kelly would dump her husband for a married man that is highly unlikely to divorce anytime soon.
The ability of otherwise capable and competent women to fall hard for the absolute scum of mankind is a constant source of wonder to me.
Everybody makes a mistake or two in matters of the heart or heat.
My point is that women who are strongly invested in their image as wives and mommies for religious and/or political reasons don’t dump the hubby for an unavailable man. They have affairs with the desirable and unavailable man. Affairs that often last for years as long as one or both spouses don’t find out. (My comment is based on reports that Bridget initiated the divorce and for her husband’s perspective, it came out of the blue.) If there is another man — he’s not unavailable.
Looks as if President Hollande is the current, public stud-muffin. And his approval rating amongst French women has gone up.
Nannies, often the dreaded “illegal immigrants” because they are cheaper and if necessary you can threaten them with ICE to do whatever you want.
Sort of defeats the point of having children doesn’t it? Other than to have them as status symbols which is disgusting.
To continue the dynasty.
That’s tricky. More children increase the odds that the dynasty lives on for many more generations. OTOH – more children mean more divisions in the family wealth and it’s difficult to have a dynasty with no money.
If only Fred Koch had been sterile!
Kelly seems to be a regular Republican to me:
She doesn’t care about anyone but the tribe, and even then, the tribal support is for her own particular benefit and solace.
Working for Christie cost Kelly her marriage but she was fine with it so… yeah I think she’ll take the fall.

I never thought Kelly would be the one to roll over. Folks underestimate the tenacity of women.
She better get hip, and quick that her azz better get a good lawyer. She is being hung out to dry. The kind of dry that makes you unemployable, or sends your azz to JAIL. IF she is delusional and thinks that Gov. Krispy Kreme is looking out for her……….
Bytch, WAKE UP
She’s got FOUR CHILDREN and her azz is doing anything BUT what will keep her WITH THEM.
Bytch, WAKE UP
this, and the “stupid liar” comments are what i think will get her to flip.
Her ex was golf pro. By definition, she is used to being used.
I don’t know, if know a person is willing to go to jail for me if I win her over I’m going to want her on my side.
She’s dim, Jed.
Uh, she does know that “unrequited” means not reciprocated, right?
