Elise Viebeck has a contemptible bit of linkbait up at The Hill, suggesting that ObamaCare premiums are going to skyrocket next year because not enough “invincible” young people are signing up. As Ed Kilgore demonstrates, the piece has been updated with information that contradicts Ms. Viebeck’s premise, but the alarmist headline has not changed.
I did a little snooping and discovered that Ms. Viebeck is a former Collegiate Network Intern
for the National Review. So, having been trained in the wingnut welfare pipelines, it really should not come as any surprise that she’s pushing out this garbage.
Here are some other Collegiate Network alumni: the editor of National Review Rich Lowry, CNN and ABC News correspondent Jonathan Karl, New York Times columnist Ross Douthat, and best-selling author Dinesh D’Souza.
So, basically The Hill has been infiltrated. But I bet they are happy with the traffic.

Anybody with a gun and an old Chevy can be a drive-by shooter. And that’s what the piece aims to do, shoot and run. We could all enjoy a much healthier country if Ed and those that care were not having to tromp through the swamps of that article. I’m getting old waiting for these folks to get a brain cell. Shame on The Hill.
The proof will be in the pudding. I’m one of the people most negatively impacted by Obamacare. Healthy, with a good income, my rates went up. At first I was disappointed. But I’ve since discovered how much better my coverage is and I’m happy. I didn’t realize my former policy was Swiss cheese. Now I’m getting spoiled because stuff that, in the past, would get excluded is instead paid. I have been able to get tests that I had until now avoided and there will be months when the insurance company pays out more than they collect from us.
My wife is pregnant and a recent ultrasound was billed at something north of $450. The insurance company has a contractual discount that brought it down to about $60. We had to pay 20% or that ($12).
Of course if our rates spike, I won’t be happy about that. My hope is that any increase is no more, and perhaps less, than previous annual increases.

Senate Control in 2014 Increasingly Looks Like a Tossup by Nate Silver
Infiltrated? I doubt it. What aspiring young political correspondent looking for a job in DC wouldn’t put an internship at NR on their resume? The Hill knew exactly what it was hiring. And with her linkbait, she’s doing what they hired her to do.
The disease of The Village isn’t that they have no qualms putting out garbage. It’s that far too many of its mandarins think that if an idea is espoused by a major political party, by definition it is legitimate and cannot be garbage.
It’s that far too many of its mandarins think that if an idea is espoused by the GOP, …
Fixed!!!!
Does anyone expect The Hill to be anything besides pro-business/Establishment bullcrap?
