   Ukraine: Coup regime raids home of Odessa anti-fascist leader

   April 1 — On the morning of April 1, Ukrainian Security Forces (SBU) agents raided the apartment of Odessa, Ukraine, anti-fascist leader Alexei Albu with a warrant authorizing them to search for lists of activists and for weapons.

   Albu, an elected member of the Odessa Regional Council and local coordinator of the leftist Union Borotba (Struggle), was called in for questioning by the SBU on March 11 after he presented a proposal for a referendum on regional autonomy at the council.

   Another local resistance leader, Anton Davidchenko, was seized by special forces on March 17 and kidnapped to Kiev, Ukraine’s capital city.

   On the eve of the raid, the local “Euromaidan” movement — supporters of the pro-Western, fascist-dominated junta in Kiev — held a rally outside police headquarters demanding the arrest of Albu and other prominent anti-fascists.

     Usually I belief one’s roots could be of importance and not the person one is married to, a principle of individuality and feminism.

     Her father Sherwin B. Nuland was born Shepsel Ber Nudelman in The Bronx, New York City, on December 8, 1930, to immigrant Byelorussian Jewish parents Meyer Nudelman and Vitsche Lutsky.

     US makes light of ‘curse words’ on EU

     With Nuland taking aim at EU ineffectiveness on Ukraine, Psaki noted: “In every diplomatic relationship where you have small frustrations, where you agree, you disagree, you work through the issues, you talk about what the best step to take is.”

     She added, in a joke, the expletive reflects Nuland’s personality rather than a “pervasive [US] viewpoint.”

     “You all know Toria pretty well. You may know the story of how she lived on a Russian boat for about eight months when she was 23, and she learned how to perfect perhaps certain words … Russian curse words and curse words on the fishing boat,” Psaki said.

     Perhaps a white lie, Toria learned the Russian curse words from het grandparents …

     Quite interesting, Bessarabia Governorate would never have  been independent moving between the Ottoman Empire, Principality of Moldavia, Russian Empire, Moldova, Romania and Ukraine.

     Most of the people were peasants with very small plots, or no land at all. The land reform of 1868 favored the prosperous peasants. Only 14.7% of the pop. was urban in 1912. The largest city was Kishinev (Rom. Chisinau). There was a Pogrom of Jews in that city in 1903. Pogroms in the Russian Empire in late 19th and early 20th century led to large-scale Jewish emigration, mostly to U.S.

      [There were pogroms in Bessarabia and the Trans-Dniester region, when Romanian troops entered these regions in summer 1941. Many Ukrainians also participated in these pogroms].

     This brutal Nazism surfaced again on Friday when right-wing toughs in Odessa attacked an encampment of ethnic Russian protesters driving them into a trade union building which was then set on fire with Molotov cocktails. As the building was engulfed in flames, some people who tried to flee were chased and beaten, while those trapped inside heard the Ukrainian nationalists liken them to black-and-red-striped potato beetles called Colorados, because those colors are used in pro-Russian ribbons.

     The death by fire of dozens of people in Odessa recalled a World War II incident in 1944 when elements of a Galician SS police regiment took part in the massacre of the Polish village of Huta Pieniacka, which had been a refuge for Jews and was protected by Russian and Polish partisans. Attacked by a mixed force of Ukrainian police and German soldiers on Feb. 28, hundreds of townspeople were massacred, including many locked in barns that were set ablaze.

     The legacy of World War II – especially the bitter fight between Ukrainian nationalists from the west and ethnic Russians from the east seven decades ago – is never far from the surface in Ukrainian politics. …

     Since February, virtually the entire U.S. news media has cooperated in the effort to play down the neo-Nazi role, dismissing any mention of this inconvenient truth as “Russian propaganda.” …

   Alexander Litvinenko because — and this was his sole piece of “evidence” — the killers used polonium, which is named after Poland.

   Statement by the stormy present [?] is pure bull. Quoting from the report:

   Before Putin moved in to take over Yukos Oil from the Russian criminal syndicates, there were plans to build a Russian-German gas pipeline through Poland. After Poland was taken over by a neo-con team of identical twins Lech and Jaroslaw Kaczynski, who serve as President and Prime Minister, respectively, Poland not only began to conduct a witch hunt against ex-Communists but also became a base of operations for the anti-Putin Russian-Israeli exiled gangsters and oligarchs.

   Named as Defense Minister was former American Enterprise Institute resident scholar Radek Sikorski, who also happens to be married to Washington Post editorial board member and leading neo-con journalist Anne Applebaum, also a leading critic of Putin (along with a number of so-called “liberals,” including Clinton ambassador to the UN Richard Holbrooke).

   After Putin decided, along with former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, to bypass Poland and build the Russo-German pipeline under the Baltic Sea, Sikorski unleashed a barrage against Russia and Germany. He likened the pipeline deal to the 1939 Molotov-Ribbentrop Agreement that carved up Eastern Europe, including Poland, between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union. Sikorski asked German Chancellor Angela Merkel to cancel the pipeline deal but she refused.

   Putin’s Jewish embrace: Is it love or politics?

   (JTA/Haaretz) March 11, 2014 – Few would dispute that Putin has been friendly to Jewish institutional life in Russia — especially to organizations and leaders that belong to the Chabad Hasidic movement.

   Gorin, a Chabad rabbi and chairman of Moscow’s $50 million Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center, credits Putin personally for providing state funding for the institution, which opened in 2012. Putin also donated a month’s wages to the museum.

   “Putin has facilitated the opening of synagogues and Jewish community centers across Russia, at the Jewish community’s request. This has had a profound effect on Jewish life, especially outside Moscow,” Gorin said. “He instituted annual meetings with Jewish community leaders and attends community events. His friendship with the Jewish community has given it much prestige and set the tone for local leaders.”

   Putin’s relationship with the Jewish community is consistent with his larger strategy for governing Russia. His brand of Russian nationalism extends beyond just ethnic Russians to include the country’s many minorities. Putin has carefully cultivated relationships with Russia’s many subgroups and regions as a means of projecting his government’s authority.

   Mikhail Chlenov, secretary general of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress, says Putin’s pro-Jewish tendencies are part of the reason that anti-Semitic incidents are relatively rare in Russia. In 2013, the Russian Jewish Congress documented only 10 anti-Jewish attacks and acts of vandalism, compared to dozens in France.

   De-classified CIA-file on KIBITZ-15 [pdf]

   This declassified CIA-file, a report adressed to the Chief of Mission in Frankfurt, describes a meeting between a CIA-agent (Chief, FHB) and head of the German stay-behind network KIBITZ-15 net, Walter Kopp (CIA-Cryptonym: KIBITZ-15), on 16th October 1952 in a safehouse in Heidelberg, run by the KIBITZ network, established and financed by the CIA.

   Walter Kopp reports on a stay-behind network established by former Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS personnel under the name of “Soldatenselbsthilfe in Sueddeutschland”, also known as South Wurttemberg Officers Group. Kopp names Col. Albert Paul Schnez of Stuttgart as manager and frontman and General of Infantry Rudolf von Bünau as head of the organization.
