It’s so hard to know these days. For example, was the father teaching his 7 year old daughter the bad guy or the good guy in this story?
ROSEMOUNT, Minn. (KMSP) –
It’s yet another instance of a neighbor puling a gun on a neighbor. This time, it happened in Rosemount, Minn. while a father was teaching his 7-year-old daughter how to ride a bicycle.
Gary Drake, 61, is facing second-degree assault and terroristic threat charges after he was accused of brandishing a shotgun on Daytona Way last week.
Apparently Mr. Drake was a bit put off that unnamed Dad wasn’t willing to take his advice on how to teach the little girl how to ride her bike.
The father told Fox 9 News he’s still shaken by the encounter. He explained that when he and his daughter got down to the cul de sac, Drake began yelling from his porch. When the father responded to say, “I’ve got it,” Drake allegedly said, “If you don’t like my advice, get off the street.”
At that point, Drake appeared to get angrier — but as the father and daughter prepared to leave the area, Drake allegedly went inside his home, grabbed a Remington 870 shotgun, pointed it at the father and threatened to kill him.
Drake’s wife eventually came out and pulled the gun away, but police said he didn’t appear repentant when he was booked. In fact, he allegedly told officers, “Maybe next time. I should have shot him.”
Of course, he went and got a shotgun and threatened to kill Dad right there on the street. Some might consider the fact that Drake had been drinking all day a possible factor in his decision to go full on Rambo against his neighbor with the seven year old daughter, but Drake himself denied that his drinking had anything to do with his behavior. Fortunately for Drake, Dad and daughter, Drake’s wife intervened and took him inside before anyone got shot, you know, by accident.
And the Texas Open Carry folks wonder why people consider them dangerous loons. Then again, I’m guessing that the NRA would consider Dad the “bad guy” since he wasn’t carrying a gun to protect himself from his neighbor. But that might just be me.
So some dumb ass thinks he can tell a neighbor the proper way of learning how to ride a bike? Someone needs to make this moran the face of the NRA.
the whole reason we make cops wear badges and uniforms is so we can tell the “good guys” with guns from the bad guys with guns.
In Georgia, a uniformed (ex marine) cop working security at a Waffle House died this weekend. He escorted s female customer out…she resisted and as he had her on the ground someone shot him at least 3x in the back. The bullets went through his bullet proof vest. Someone in the area got their gun and shot the guy who shot the cop. Both shooters had permits to carry concealed guns. I do not believe the uniform has any meaning for people who must carry a gun at all times. I don’t understand how a cops do traffic stops anymore.
Here are how the rules of engagement go for gun owner supremacists:
Oh, the inhumanity.
He should probably re-think that comment that the alcohol didn’t have anything to do with it, since that seems to be his best potential defense against the “terroristic threat” charge.
Personally I think the charges in this situation are a bit much, but hopefully the eventual penalty includes him being unable to own weapons for the rest of his life.
I can agree with you all day long but there’s nothing and I mean no written words that can prepare a person for the experience of facing someone when they brandish a gun and point it in your direction. Add to that the experience of having the man drunk and waving the gun in the vicinity of your young daughter, in your own neighborhood and it’s a terror no one should ever have to experience. The right to bear arms was meant as a protective measure never as a bullying tactic and unfortunately that’s just what carrying a gun has become, a bully’s badge.
The girl’s dad was the “bad guy”; he should have taught her better. Could have bought her one of those pink numbers the gun manufacturers are marketing to little girls now. If “My First Gun” had been one of her gifts under the tree, just think how much better things would have gone!
Another argument in favor of “nut control”.
Another argument in favor of “nut control”.
Good idea! Start with cutting off the nuts of the drunk gun-brandisher.
There is a deep and abiding sickness in these people. The gunsucks use guns as the first line of discussion. It’s sickening, and yet the NRA is probably going to defend this sick turd.
Gun worshipers worship guns and the power they give to them.
This is what your typical neo-con looks like out in flyover. Willing to tell you the best way to live your life by pointing a gun at you.
Freedom is served!
