Penalty Thomas Müller for Germany 1-0 – 10 min.
Thanks, Pepe. He won’t be available to play the USA in match two.
Coentrao off with a serious injury, Portugal is having a bad day. Chances for USA increasing to survive first round.
disastrous day.
Pepe and Ronaldo are teammates at Real Madrid. Pepe is a mean player and a red card is normal, especially in the derby “El Classico” with Barcelona. Cristiano Ronaldo is considered the World’s Best Player and had come in second to Messi for a number of years. I hope to see his magnificent play in the coming matches …
You have to learn to love his play, actually he is a great sportsman and a fine human being.
Really sad about Tony Gwynn.
It’s been a tough year to be a Padre fan. The awful play is routine, of course, but losing Jerry Coleman and then Mr. Padre himself is the worst.
Very sad. Watched him a lot as a Braves fan. He was an amazing hitter and a humble, happy man who turned down bigger paychecks to play his entire career in San Diego. Someone folks could admire without reservation.
. . . be productive at much of anything else, either.
How can anyone watch the world cup knowing how brutally the Brazilian govt and police are putting down protests?
I won’t watch the games.
I don’t watch any of the WC games, regardless of host nation.
The tournament is organized around national teams.
Les travailleurs n’ont pas de patrie.
Every round should be simply be Workers v. Workers, and all the matches should be no-score draws.
I guess I’ll be back after FIFA gets the bribes sorted out and crowns a new “champion.”
I would say same as always. World Cup is hella tedious.
