It may be a virus – there is one going around for which the major symptom is tiredness.
Me, I’m planning to ignore all news on Tuesday night and wait until Wednesday to find out just how bad it is. I’m contemplating the reality that the US electorate is about to give control of both houses of Congress to a political party which, on the record (either via bills passed in the House the last two years or the party platform) advocates the following:
End to the ACA, thus sending something like 30 million people off of health insurance.
Banning of abortion – perhaps with exceptions for rape/incest, perhaps not.
Banning of many forms of birth control.
Combining the three points above – policies that increase the likelihood of accidental pregnancy, ban the option of ending the pregnancy, and assure for 10s of millions that there will be no pre-natal care nor post-birth care for the child due to lack of health insurance.
Reducing taxes on the wealthy. 0% dividend tax, 0% inheritance taxes, extremely low rates for unearned (investment) income. Balanced by increased sales taxes targeted mainly at low income earners.
Policies that will dramatically increase the emission of health-damaging pollutants and greenhouse gasses.
Policies that will increase the amount of warfare, the amounts spent on the military and espionage industries, increase various forms of torture, increase warrantless domestic spying, and reduce protection of whistleblowers.
Promote teaching of creationism in schools as a valid science along with other mythical viewpoints.
Defund public education.
Reduce or eliminate the minimum wage.
End the Medicare guarantee of health care insurance for people who are 10 years or less from retirement.
I’m sorry, but I really want the morons who are voting for this stuff to live with the consequences of their actions. However, I wish they could do so in some alternate reality and not fuck up the world that I live in.
Naturally, my mind immediately leaps to Madeline Kahn.
Genius.
coming and going and going and coming
Me, too. “Everything below the waist is kaput!”
Also above the neck…
I’m tired from deleting fundraising emails all day.
Mark them as Spam.
My gf and I both voted yesterday. Lots of people were there. This is DeKalb Co (Atlanta Decatur).
Here’s some possibly decent news.

I’m beyond ready for the election to be over and done with.
Me too, but since I’m in Sarajevo and going to Dubrovnik on Tuesday, it’s not oppressive.
So tired of waiting…

You forgot “overthrowing the federal government.”
Take a load off. Give Finn and Cabin Girl a big hug. Enjoy the moment. You’ve earned it.
Oh, that sucks. I didn’t know it was restricted.
