I spent most of the day doing editing work for the online launch of the January/February issue of the Washington Monthly. It should be ready to go by Monday morning, and you’ll love the cover story about man-eating polar bears.
The rest of the day was spent making preparations for the Finnster’s fifth birthday tomorrow morning. It’s hard to believe that it’s been five years since he was born. We’ve done a pretty good job of keeping him healthy and safe so far, and I hope we can maintain our record. He’s the sunshine of our lives.
In retrospect, 2014 was not a fun year for me and it was a tough year for the whole family, but Finn has been a constant source of joy and wonder.
This holiday season we made a big investment in music, and I am hoping that music is going to be a much bigger part of our lives in 2015. It’s one of the things that kind of went by the wayside for many years, and I felt it needed to be rectified.
It’s safe to say that 2014 will be the last full year for Booman Tribune, too. As soon as I can pull it off, we’ll be closing this joint down after a ten year run and launching something more fun and modern. Keep tuned for announcements.
Thanks to everyone who reads this site and especially to those who participate and make donations to keep it going. I hope you all have a great celebration tonight and tomorrow, and I’ll see you next year.
Happy New Year, Booman and everyone else. Let’s hope 2015 is less trying.
Happy New Year to everyone at the Pond! Let’s ring in a whole lot of music in 2015.
Happy New Year.
I’m in ER because my mom decided tonight would be a good night to dislocated her knee while walking down the stairs…ugh!
So sorry! Bummer of a way to start the year.
Sorry to hear it. Wish her a happy new year and a quick recovery from the Frog Pond.
Ouch, that’s a rough one! Hope she’s able to come safe and sound and can settle in with knee pillowed time to watch Rose Parade. Sounds like you’re going to be a busy caretaker. Take care.
Happy New year! The last one in which I have to work on New Year’s Day.
Happy new year to all. I will be sorry to see the old frog pond fade into history.
Me, too.
Happy New Year to the good people of the Frog Pond. It’s the first blog I read every day, so I’m going to miss it quite a lot. Good luck to everyone and thanks for all the hard work, Martin!
I am in NYC, staying at the house of my daughter, who has gone over to the dark side, and converted to veganism. Bleahhh….
We are enjoying NYC. We did not go to Times Square, since this is probably the dumbest way to spend a New Years that I can imagine. Instead, we watched a silly movie and ate vegan Chinese food and discussed the upcoming big exam of my daughter’s boyfriend. Fun. Nothing exciting. But pleasant.
As to the upcoming demise of the Frog Pond, that’s a sad thing. It’s a specific place, and won’t be the same. Possibly it will be improved, but the “it” will be different.
Happy Birthday to your son.
Happy New Year Everyone!
Happy New Year all and Happy Birthday to the Finnster! Shutting down the Pond? Oh noes ~ whatever shall we do now? Seriously, it will be greatly missed.
Hau’oli Makahiki Hou, everyone!
