Well, I just watched a segment on the networks news concerning the pending Homeland Security shitstorm. And during the entire clip, which lasted several minutes, not one mention was made about the root cause of this clusterfuck; the Republicans. It was all just “Congress cannot come to an agreement”. Siiiiiigh……….
So all I can give you, in a little tribute to the horribly dysfunctional Republican Congress, is a little “Stormy Monday”.
While literally true that “Congress can’t come to an agreement”, News as opposed to Infotainment should explain that the bill is a parliamentary maneuver to force a political decision by a high stakes game of chicken. They don’t report a carjacking as “couldn’t come to an agreement as to possession of the vehicle”.
Funding bills are funding bills and shouldn’t include policy decisions. Democrats actually started this many years ago with votes to defund wars.
Today, Representatives Jared Polis (D-CO) and Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) introduced two bills that together would legalize and tax marijuana at the federal level. Representative Polis’s legislation, H.R. 1013, the Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol Act, removes marijuana from the schedule set by the Controlled Substances Act; transitions marijuana oversight from the jurisdiction of the Drug Enforcement Agency to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; and regulates marijuana like alcohol by inserting into the section of the U.S. Code governing “intoxicating liquors.” Representative Blumenauer’s legislation, H.R. 1014, the Marijuana Tax Revenue Act of 2015, creates a federal excise tax on non-medical marijuana sales and moves this quickly growing industry out of the shadows.
I’d like more medical research done to determine just what level constitutes impairment off vehicles for instance. Moving it away from DEA would help with that quite a bit.
Wow, now doesn’t this remind you of all those screaming headlines on CNN over the last few years about the Republicans’ non-stop obstruction in Congress.
No wonder Shelby Steele is such a favorite of Rush Limbaugh. “Get used to it. It isn’t going to change. Deal with it, black folks”. I can see the dittoheads smiling ear to ear.
Another awesome discovery from my weekend. Apparently Kurt Cobain really liked this band:
Every song I’ve heard from Kleenex so far has one hook that is driven in deeply. This, from a group whose behavior and fashion sense reminds me of this:

I am mesmerized by this song and video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-tW0CkvdDI

This was music to my ears this Sunday morning; Ta-Nehisi Coles absolutely wiped the floor with Shelby Steele:
If there’s anybody persuadable on these issues, Ta-Nehisi moved them substantially and Shelby repelled them.
