They tried to project one image of reality to us when we were kids growing up in the New York area, but there was another reality that they kept very well hidden.
Former “Brady Bunch” star Florence Henderson told the Huffington Post how she unexpectedly contracted a sexually transmitted disease after a “little fling” with former New York City Mayor John Lindsay.
Said Henderson: “It’s not something I’m proud of but it’s something that happened. We had a little fling one night and the next morning, I woke up and I had these creatures and I had no idea.”
She added: “He sent me flowers the next day and apologized. And of course, I never really saw him again.”
I was only four when Mayor Lindsay left office and the first mayor I really remember is Ed Koch. But I remember the Brady Bunch really well. And Mrs. Brady getting crabs from the mayor just isn’t something I ever thought I’d have to contemplate.
