My thoughts are with the Biden family as they mourn the loss of their son Beau, who died much too young of brain cancer at the age of forty-six. It’s painful to contemplate the idea that Joe Biden will have to bury another one of his children. He’s endured far too much personal loss in his life. I just hope he knows that there are a lot of us out here who have been inspired by how he’s managed to confront the most crippling tragedy and still live a purposeful life full of meaning with grace, humor, and dignity. I know that losing Beau will be a tremendous new challenge for him and his wife Jill, and I hope they get the support that they’re going to need. My thoughts are also with Beau’s wife Hallie, and their two children, Natalie and Hunter.

Beau Biden will be missed.
Beautifully said. A tragedy not just for the loss of what he gave but for what he had yet to give.
From Obama’s statement on the death of Beau Biden: “We swing our lanterns higher.” http://t.co/TktpVxx3gx http://t.co/dzjbePW42g
I clicked on the link and made the mistake of reading some comments. For pity’s sake, why wouldn’t the Washington Post simply not allow comments if they weren’t in a position to moderate and ban a bunch of them?. Not only casting aspersions on the two Biden sons, and on the Vice-President but on the President for his statements about Beau’s death. “The only good Democrat is a dead Democrat”.
While I once again have fresh reason to despair of my fellow citizens I think I know the best way to greatly reduce obnoxious comments at altogether inapproriate times. Newspapers should require commenters to use their full names. Do no allow the crazies to be anonymous. Then let’s see how many have the courage of their convictions.
Can’t even take the time to respond to people so terribly awful. Their actions speak for them; no comments necessary.
My thoughts and sympathies have gone to Joe, the Bidens, and all those close to them.
I can’t imagine burying one child, let alone two. Prayers to the Biden family.
So very sad. Just shows that no matter how wealthy, successful or famous one is, ultimately we’re all in the same boat. I can’t imagine anything worse than losing a child and now Joe has lost two. Losing a wife and little girl at such a young age must have been hard beyond words. I can’t even imagine. And now this. Let’s hold Joe and his family in our hearts and thoughts and prayers.
My heart goes out to the family. Having our oldest son diagnosed with leukemia at age three, we were introduced to the nightmare of the chance of losing a child. We were lucky that he survived.
Knowing that Joe Biden and his family must go through this again is more than heartbreaking. I wish them the strength and support to get through another painful loss.
Sad news tonight.
gonna leave u with this video of VP Biden discussing grief at a speech he gave in 2012 I think?
very sad to hear this news.
