Hello again painting fans.


This week I will be continuing with the painting of El Morro National Monument.  I am using the photo seen directly below.  (A borrowed photo.)  I’ll be using my usual acrylic paints on and 8×8 inch canvas.

When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.

Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.

For this week’s installment I’ve gone over every element of the painting.  The highlighted areas of the butte are now a bit darker.  The shadowed portion  is a more consistent blue with only hints of the dark crevices.  Out front there are big changes.  The junipers now exist as separate units, each with a long shadow.  Note that the shadows follow the slope of the ground.  Each has lit areas to the left in green and blue shadow to the right.  I’ll have this done for next week.
