Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) calls out Bernie for gun stance

Fallout from Bernie Sanders interview with the NY Daily news, comes from Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy, who thinks Sanders is wrong for not supporting the Sandy Hook lawsuit against gun manufacturers, and therefore disqualifies him from the Democratic nomination.

Murphy, who supports Hillary Clinton for president, says Democrats can’t support someone who supports gun manufacturer immunity.

Murphy went on to say “restoring liability for sellers is not the same as restoring liability for gun makers”.

“For Sanders to say that the Sandy Hook families should be barred from court, even if the weapon was negligently made, is wrong”.
“Democrats cannot nominate a candidate who believes that toy gun makers should be held to a higher legal standard than real gun makers”.

Sanders response was an affirmation of what he said earlier. “While I do believe that gun manufactures and dealers should be able to be sued when they know that guns are going into the hands of the wrong people. So if someone walks in and says I want 10,000 rounds of ammo, you just might become suspicious of that, so I think there are grounds for those suits, but not if you sell me a legal product. If they are selling me a product to a person who buys it legally, what you are talking about is ending gun manufacturing in America. I don’t believe in that.

Hillary Clinton has criticized Sanders’ stance on guns, and the two have sparred frequently on the subject. Clinton has said that no other industry in America has absolute immunity but the gun industry.
