It appears that you can be a conservative in Hollywood and even go full Tea Bagger if you want. But there are limits, and this election season exceeded them.
What’s really happened is that every excuse has been stripped away, and people can’t look themselves in the mirror anymore.
Maybe they tired of having their membership dues eaten up by administrative costs that did little other than provide a salary to one of more individuals. They can manage that today by themselves on facebook and twitter for no cost.
Good call. It was interesting to read in the linked reporting that this group of Hollywood elites had allowed themselves to become afflicted by The Big Grift which seems to make its way through the conservative movement so monetarily successfully and politically ineffectively.
Also, too, the quoted attempts to bamboozle their way through the FOA dissolution with PR spin are laughable, though unsurprising from people in this industry. Just repurposing some of their skills, eh?
One would hope they couldn’t look themselves in the mirror anymore but people’s ability to rationalize is astounding. If one’s continued to be an unabashed Republican for 8 years under W and the last 7+ in which every effort was made to discredit and derail Obama, there’s probably not much hope. Such a person is either not paying attention at all or a very shallow thinker or an extremely narcissistic person (or some combination thereof).
Most of the blurbs I have seen from these folks reads that they like the freedom-fighting, war-making, flag-waving, good guys beating the bad guys story. THAT’s what they like about the GOP. It’s very Hollywood of them.
And it’s hard to see how Cruz and Trump will star in this movie.
Yes, these people, and others like them, will vote for either Trump or Cruz. It’s a secret ballot, after all.
But who will campaign with them? Who will be surrogates? What bands will play, or allow their music to be played?
This is it……the market forces that libertarians claim to love so much. Here it is in action. But the results are not what they want, so ‘poof’, we are gone.

The fact that Gary Busey is not the president of this organization is… disappointing.
Oh, how pleasant these meetings must have been! Right wing crazy people with a chip on their shoulder and gigantic egos?
I didn’t even know this existed. This sounds pathetic.
Well, that’s because they were following the first rule of the club. Probably had secret decoder rings, too…
maybe they produced this new, competition for demon sheep, ad for Mike Pape

Holy shit, he looks like a fat Mitch McConnell.
the plot of this ad puzzles me – what is their plan after cutting the fence?
And how useful can Pape be if he doesn’t notice these men cutting through a fence and running off behind him?
indeed!
Jerry Bruckheimer was part of the secretive Hollywood conservatard club? Why it that not at all surprising? When Jeryy the King of Schmalz non-films come on, I always get my click counter to register the times an African American actor is made to read out lines that still sound like they were scripted in 1975, “I’m gonna get you you jive turkey muthafucka!” Wow, Jerry, you’re so down with it, baby. And invariably, we get to see that same character as the first one to die in a super excellent car chase that goes on and on and on. The full barometer of the absolute worthlessness of Jerry Bruckheimer filmcraft is listening to goony goo goo’s down at the local gyros shop bellowing out their take on scenes from one of his films, “And the cop pulls the guy over, and the guy’s doin’ one of these (aghast facial contortion) and the cop’s like Whoah Shit! and the guy’s goin’, Oh my fuggin’ god, and me and my friend are sitting there in the movie theater goin’, this is fuckin’ hysterical!” (and we all wonder where the Tea Party actively recruits from? ) But, don’t let me give y’all the impression that I have Jerry Bruckheimer issues by any means.
No, no, no, I didn’t get that impression.
