I was looking at an old Friday Photo Flog thread today. It was a post from 2009. So many old user names, many long gone. I started to wonder who was left from that time. I’ve posted this in hope of finding out. Post a comment and give a shout out, hay or howdy. Let’s see how many of us codgers are still out and about.

That’s a long time in blog years.
I used to play Myth ll online. So I been around awhile.
.
hi boran2. I’ve been here since late ’05 I think.
Thanks esquimaux. Almost as long as me I believe.
For the past couple of years I’ve been working with the Hoosier Hikers’ Council building a trail.

We finished that loop in February and we’re working on another longer more challenging loop now.
This year, I’ve been playing math with some first gradershttp://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i62/jimferguson/imagejpeg_0_zpsvlb4c5di.jpg
And many other geezer smiles.
Hi Jim. Thanks for the update. You’ve been busy.
Yeah, unlike me, he doesn’t get that retirement is for slacking. 🙂
Ahhhhhhhhh slacking.
Slacktivist!
Not sure when I reg’d. First post was 09/10/2009. Lurked since 2007.
You’re officially an old timer. 😉
Hi all!
Started blogging because of the 2004 election and registered as creve coeur at big bad orange. My early favorite writer was BooMan23, wasn’t a hard choice to move to his blog in early 2005. Soon there was a famous pie fight and some astonishing bloggers moved en masse to the Pond. Great serie of Welcome Wagon diaries …

The one consistent thing you could find here over the years was a diary by Oui. You must have thousands.
.
Thanks Oui!
Thanks, boran, for coming by my blog to point this diary out.
I go back to 2005 and though I don’t comment anymore, I still lurk.
Here are some other old timers I still see on the web other places but not here: Family Man, keres, and katiebird.
Nice to see you here, Andi! I don’t comment much these days either.
Nice diary, boran2, nice to see everyone!
I was waiting for you to show up. 😉
thanks! due to various issues I’ve been offline much of the time lately and probably for the next couple months. thanks again for this diary, really fun to see the comments. [I’m on plus 10 years, received my cake already, started here during the kos pie fight.

Thanks for checking in!
My first diary was July 1, 2005.
That dates to the Gilligan’s Island II pie fight at Daily Kos in which Markos slung some heavy “woman’s studies” slurs and a whole bunch of bloggers started their own blogs. To the great advantage of the progressive blogosphere.
I followed several of them, including BooMan.
Thanks for checking in. I didn’t realize that you were here that long.
so glad you identify it as Gilligan’s Island II! thanks! important part of the history
Hiya Boran and everyone,
Glad you put this up Boran. It’s good to see some of the old timers are still around.
FM!!!!!!!!!!
What’s up Boran. Hope everything has been going good for you.
I’m still finding ways of creative slacking. It’s getting more difficult though. I’ve found I’ve turned into a grumpy old man.
I have a hard time picturing you as grumpy.
OK so I’m not so grumpy. I still look at everything as an adventure. Although some adventures I think I could have done without.
I was just re-reading some of the comments for the old cafes. I do miss everyone getting together and just going back and forth. I’m glad to see the people that have come here today, and I do miss a good many that haven’t.
Agreed. I look at the names in the old threads and wonder how those folks are.
The Internet is an interesting thing, particularly gaming. You meet ‘friends’, stay up sometimes all night. Go through personal ups and downs with them, and then :poof: they are gone. Emails don’t get answered, then the game you played is gone.
You get close, even with people over seas, but then it’s all imaginary, and they are gone without word.
.
hey Family Man! how are you? I think of you often, i.e. every time I see the dictionaries I have stored in the trunk of my car – not sure if you recall that exchange from some years back
yo b2 etal …here since the beginning pretty much.
still read daily, comments…not so much.
Good to see you, dada!
Still read but rarely comment.
Thanks for checking in!
I started lurking here in early 2008, when Al Giordano (The Field) had a link to this place. OT, does anyone remember the turbulent night that the Field migrated to its own site? IIRC, it was on a Saturday summer night in 2008. I see some old Fieldhands over here at Booman. I was Land of Lincoln on the Field.
Sorry Karl I don’t remember that. The turbulence I remember was over at the orange and when StarkRavingMad was here. For some reason I miss her.
I just found the link which answered my question. At least my memory is not failing me. Yippee!

Glad to see you.
Hi everybody! I’ve been out doing political stuff today, such as walking in a parade, so I’m late to the party. Just want to mention DuctapeFatwa, who can no longer be with us here. Miss that guy. Thanks for the memories, b2.
Oh, and I arrived here in the fall of 2005, IIRC.
You had us worried sick. 😉
Ductape Fatwa (or how I imagine he would have looked and acted in person) appeared in one of my dreams a couple nights ago. The dream version of Ductape Fatwa assured me that the rumors of his death were greatly exaggerated. We had a fairly enjoyable conversation about just life in general. Then I woke up.
Interesting and seems reassuring somehow. The dreams I can recall are usually frustrating in theme to some degree. Maybe things just aren’t moving along quickly enough for me, ha ha. My rational self reminds me to slow down and experience each moment, while I have the time (on earth).
The other long ago diarist/commenter who came to mind last night was ghostdancers way, but at the time, I couldn’t remember the exact name other than the ghost part.
Still here. Been Don Durito for several years. Used to post under a different name not long after the blog first started. Good to see some familiar names here whom I don’t often see around these days.
Welcome DD!
Thanks to all!
