I like to say that I would be surprised at Bernie Sanders and his supporters about the way they acted in Nevada the other day, but I can’t for this simple reason. They have been acting this way for the past several weeks, and now that Hillary Clinton is just about salted away the delegate count, the violence, the hatred, the vitriol, have all escalated to a fever pitch.
Led by such luminaries as Rosario Dawson, Susan Sarandon, Tim Robbins, Cornel West and other mouthpieces for the Sanders campaign and egged on by Bernie, there is a constant attack mode against Hillary. Add that to the fact that Donald Trump supporters are crossing over in open primaries and voting for Sanders, makes it even clearer the coordination of these attacks, that Trump and Sanders are actually working together to bring down Hillary. A fact further established by Trump the other day, practically begging Bernie to run as an independent.
Look, I understand the anger, I really do, but it’s entirely misplaced, misguided and in recent days, just plain ugly. Sanders supporters feel robbed, cheated and blame the establishment for all their woes. The fact is Sanders came up short in ACTUAL voting. Also there is no hard evidence of cheating, no hard evidence of Sanders being treated unfairly at all. Every argument Sanders and his supporters have made of a rigged system simply doesn’t hold water
The moaning, groaning, whining and crying I’ve heard the past few days, would fill up both oceans. Sanders ran a well meaning and fruitful campaign, but simply got beaten by the better candidate in Hillary Clinton. No shame in owing up to that. Going around making false accusations, threatening and intimidating people, shouting hysterically, and acting like a bunch of kids isn’t going to solve anything.
Bernie Sanders has run out of excuses. His supporters have run out of excuses. He made his points, and Hillary will implement most of them into her platform at the convention. Sanders is running out of money, he is deceiving everyone by staying in with no way to the nomination. Everyone has come to the reality that Hillary Clinton and Adolf Hit, er, Donald Trump are the two left standing. The longer Sanders stays in the more he hurts Hillary and the more he embarrasses himself, and the legacy of Bernie Sanders will not be one of uplifting and inspiring people, but of a bitter and careless old man who never saw the writing on the wall.
Right, don’t forget the ‘old man’ bit, who challenges an ‘old lady’. She’s never called that, but she is. Right?
That’s an old lady with 30+ years of experience in Washington.
You’re right, she is an old lady. There’s nothing wrong with that. Just a fact. I’m an old man, about three years younger than Bernie Sanders and only three older than her. Now I’m getting up and making believe I’m throwing a chair. Pay attention.
I see this 30+ years from HRC supporters frequently. Can you explain the 30+ years experience in Washington?
8 years as Jr. Senator-1 year while campaigning=7; 4 years as SOS. That looks like 11 years to me. If you insist, I’ll give you that 1 year. So it looks like a total of 12 years. Bernie Sanders has so much experience in Washington that I need a calculator.
Good looking out! This is one of those cases where the original poster should stick to the facts on the ground. She does have some experience as a Senator and as Secretary of State, so a case can be made that she understands how DC works and she has a potentially good grasp on international relations, which is definitely more than can be said of the presumptive GOP nominee Trump (although he’ll no doubt claim infinite wisdom and knowledge on all matters). I suppose we could add the eight years as First Lady to HRC’s resume. That would bump her up to 20 years. But yeah, the 30 plus years claim is a bit much. Still a missing decade to be accounted for. What was she doing during this legendary missing decade? I’d have an easier time believing that she was a roadie for Spinal Tap than doing much of anything substantive in DC.
I get zeal for a candidate. Really, I do. But there comes a time when the dismissive posturing toward a preferred candidate’s primary opponent or opponents gets a bit old. Veer off the facts and it gets really old, really fast. Sanders has a considerable legislative record in the House and the Senate, and that legislative record lasts considerably longer than HRC. That cannot simply be ignored.
sorry to be late to the diary, guys. Some pretty good lines there – I love the part about the old lady implementing the old guy’s ideas.
Hillary and Bernie agree with each other over 90% of the time. What more does he want?? Most of the stuff Bernie wants is more than likely going into the party platform, so I say again, why is he still in the race??
EGO!!!!!!
So now you at least recognize that there’s still a race on between the old man and the old woman. May the best contestant win.
You’re kidding right?? Hillary is less than 100 delegates away from clinching the nomination. Where do you see a race??
How did you like Bernie’s win in Oregon Tuesday?
Sanders: 56% Clinton 44%
Bernie trounced Hillary and won all the counties, except Gilliam: Hillary 101 votes Bernie 100 votes
All you can brag about is winning a very small county and only by 1 vote.
From Salon.com “Sanders grievances are legitimate, and he ought to voice them. (I disagree). He needs to be careful however. Pretending he has a path to the nomination when he doesn’t is bad enough, but doing so, while laying waste to the party and its nominee can and will backfire in the worst way”.
Unless this is what Sanders supporters want.
IMHO the Democratic party elites have already laid waste to the party, so I don’t see the logic in this statement.
