Open Thread

Even the grass thought it was too hot and sunny and humid to play soccer today, but I did anyway and got a another goal (third week in a row). Goalie thought I was going to cross from the endline but I curled a right-footed kick to the near-post and caught him napping. Best goal yet.

My hip flexor thinks I am an idiot for doing this, though. I aggravated it in the spring when I pulled my quad, and now it barks at me no matter how much I stretch. Feels kind of like someone is poking me a little roughly with a knife.

Overall, however, my wind is getting better, although it was hard to tell in today’s swamp-like weather.

It feels like a battle to get in shape before something breaks so irrevocably that this old body has to retire for good.
