Even the grass thought it was too hot and sunny and humid to play soccer today, but I did anyway and got a another goal (third week in a row). Goalie thought I was going to cross from the endline but I curled a right-footed kick to the near-post and caught him napping. Best goal yet.
My hip flexor thinks I am an idiot for doing this, though. I aggravated it in the spring when I pulled my quad, and now it barks at me no matter how much I stretch. Feels kind of like someone is poking me a little roughly with a knife.
Overall, however, my wind is getting better, although it was hard to tell in today’s swamp-like weather.
It feels like a battle to get in shape before something breaks so irrevocably that this old body has to retire for good.
Else even more impressive if from the right, since imparting the spin to get that “Bend it Like Beckham” curl with the outside of the right foot is an even higher level of skill (or would have been for me, anyway). Though if you’d pulled either off in a World Cup (or other televised match), you could fairly expect to find your feat in a highlights Youtube eventually.
Way to go!
Yes, from the left side, right on the endline.
Sounds like you are having fun!
