Ryan, McCain, and some GOP senator.
Gritted teeth, reading from a committee drafted statement. He flashed an insincere grin and held two thumbs up. Looked like a POW reading text about the horrors of imperialist running dogs. I have never seen such a forced performance since McCain talked up Palin.
The crowd saw the same thing and responded with a few, sparse, half hearted cheers. “My God, he isn’t the rebel we thought.” And they are right. If he can’t stand up to McCain and Ryan…how is going to shake up Washington?
Ridge
He also gritted his teeth and looked embarrassed when accepting Palin’s endorsement of him.

Is it enough for the GOPsters to jump onto his sinking ship? Either way, does it now mean that the Trumpheads bail on him?
Maybe. Like I said some time ago, he doesn’t have political experience. They are eating him alive.
In the end they will have a shell who mouths platitudes about Ronald Reagan, Hands of my Medicare, and Jesus.
Hillary will sweep into the White House with an FDR type majority and start using it to kill the last of FDR’s legacy and become the fulfillment of RR’s. She’ll sign TPP and the Corporations will own America lock, stock, and barrel, suing over every environmental regulation and consumer protection regulation that exists in those kangaroo TPP courts with other corporations as juries.
His lack of political experience was an asset in the first round because he had a “tough guy” schtick that gave him the edge in competing against dulled down and flattened personalities repeating now hackneyed GOP talking points which don’t require any thought or knowledge. So, it was a know-nothing against a gaggle of other know-nothings.
In a general election that still wouldn’t have been a problem for him IF he were the GOP fair-haired boy and he followed orders to back up whenever he went too far off from the standard party line. A case could be made the the GOP elites appreciated that he could get away with deviating from the religious/abortion/social straight-jacket the party is in. It’s not even as if his coarse statements on anything were outside what Republicans have used for decades.
What’s freaking them out is that he can’t pivot to the “center.” Continues to say outrageous things that have no recognizable voting constituency and only serve to further the perception that he’s an ignorant jackass. They’re fine with HRC, but they need the fiction that they’re not and Trump is blowing that for them.
