Here’s the second in what hopefully will be a continuing series.
Long before bands like Tortoise emerged on the scene, there was Dif Juz. This was one of my favorite tracks off Extractions. Beautiful album really.
Have a beautiful rest of your week.
Enjoy.
Love me some Neko Case. Here’s one of her many collaborations:
Bonus star for Kristen Schall casting.
Been a rough couple of days for me; when I saw the cafe was open for business, this immediately leapt to mind:
Peaked at #10 on the pop charts, January 22nd, 1971. The lyric always makes me laugh. Joyous music:
Audio/video quality is poor, but the dancing is of fine quality, and dig that ’70’s variety show stage set:
Sweet improvisations here: wistful, playful, enormously skilled:
My favorite one from Dexter.
And now for something completely different: Schubert’s “Ave Maria” sung by Barbara Bonney, luminous, lyrical vocal magic:
Sigh…. As usual with Youtube, best not to read the comments.
This is a particularly fine rendition, you’re right.
Checking in from the road. Waves to all.
Well, these sorts of media scrums are becoming sweet music to my ears:
How terrible is Donald Trump? So terrible that even Sippy Cup is disgusted by him and his surrogates.
The guy on the right was grateful to go unnoticed.
Not one of his more celebrated songs, but just as fine as any, and with echoes of history that hooked this student thereof:
l’ll see your Dif Juz and raise with Charles Lloyd and Bill Frisell from their latest collaboration
then there’s St. Germain
enjoy
l haven’t a clue how dexter got in there ????
Well, I approve of the bonus Gordon, anyway.
And I sure do care for that St. Germain piece.
thanks.
l had the great good fortune to see a live St Germain show a few years ago in France. what really amazed me was that they do this stuff live. lt isn’t just studio tricks….tho electronics play a big part in the performances.
l’m not sure if they ever play over here, stateside, but if they do and you’re close, l highly recommend.
Dexter Gordon is always appreciated here. 🙂
