Hello again painting fans.
This week I will continuing with the painting of Heritage House in Kanab, Utah, seen in the photo directly below. I’ll be using my usual acrylic paints on a 5×7 inch canvas.
When last seen the painting appeared as it does in the photo seen directly below.
Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.
I’ve continued to refine the painting but did not get as much done as I would like. The big news here is the sky, which now provides a nice backdrop for the house. I’ll get more done for next week.
The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.
I’ll have more progress to show you next week. See you then.
Earlier paintings in this series can be seen here.

Coming along nicely. Obviously I doubt you’re sweating the amount of time taken to complete this project. The main is to end up with the work of art with which you are satisfied, not how fast it can be completed.
Along those lines, when I take photographs, I like to take my time to set up my shots. Now when I am traveling with others, that can be a bit of a difficult endeavor. Could I have taken better photos of a Tesla recharging station in Needles? Of course. But when those being transported are incessantly complaining that 120 degrees is too hot, the luxury of setting up the pictures I want is simply not there. I get what I can under those conditions and hope for the best.
I see that all our old Photobucket photos are now being held for ransom. What a shame for the old Foto Flogs to be trashed like that.
BTW, b2, missed you this week – hope all’s well with you.
That’s bad news about photobucket. That will really mess with our old foto flog archives. For now, Flickr seems safe.
Last I heard, both Yahoo and Flickr were up for acquisition by Verizon, but I haven’t seen anything that confirms that. Still, I’m reluctant to trust my stuff to them until a bit of time goes by. Lucy, Charlie Brown and the football, ya’ know?
Wonder where b2 is this weekend?
I am a bit apprehensive about what the merger will eventually mean for Flickr. As for now, I’ve had my account for quite a number of years. Hopefully nothing changes. Jury’s out, I suppose.
Hopefully b2 is enjoying a nice weekend of painting.
For photos, I imagine imgur is still good. I do have an Instagram account, but I probably won’t directly link material from it to political blogs, for very obvious reasons.
I just went back in time to visit the first ever Froggy Bottom Photo Fair from Oct. 2005. Not only are the Photobucket pics gone, but also the Picturetrail and Flickr postings – due to account inactivity, I suppose. A whole lot of good stuff down the tubes and I’m pretty sad about it. Was looking forward to reminiscing in my dotage. I still have all mine, but all the friends’ photos we had back then are pretty well gone now.
I’d forgotten all about Picturetrail. Flickr postings may have gone down the memory hole if the account holders deleted their accounts, or deleted their photos. Flickr has been connected to Yahoo for a long time, so if one had a Yahoo email account that was becoming spam-riddled and they deleted their account, anything in Flickr under that account would disappear as well. I hate to see good photos go away. They were part of our collective memory here. Those photos were something that made this political blogging community fairly unique and inviting. Just another reminder that we often aren’t fully appreciative of good things in our lives until they are gone.
