People close to Secretary of Defense James Mattis say he is “appalled” by the president’s decision to make a shift on transgender policy on Twitter. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is on the verge of resigning, mainly out of frustration with the president and his staff. Secretary of Energy Rick Perry is in charge of our nuclear weapons and was duped into spending a half hour with a Russian phone prankster who he thought was Ukraine’s prime minister, Volodymyr Groysman. Trump wants to fire his beleaguered Attorney General who is pissed at him. Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke just alienated the senator with the most influence over his department by threatening her state with petty retribution for her vote against Trumpcare. Trump’s first press secretary just quit in disgust, which came shortly after his second communications director quit in disgust. Trump’s new communications director just said that his chief of staff is a “paranoid schizophrenic,” that his top advisor “sucks his own cock,” and that he wants “to kill” the rest of Trump’s staff for leaking. Trump’s “paranoiac” chief of staff is preparing to exit.
Trump’s campaign chairman is quite possibly going to jail and is likely in plea negotiations to avoid that fate. Trump had to fire his first National Security Advisor who is quite possibly going to jail and is likely in plea negotiations to avoid that fate. Trump’s son was nailed dead to rights for talking to Russian spies about getting dirt on Hillary Clinton, turned in essentially by Trump’s son-in-law who also met with Russian spies. They both have lawyers, as does Trump’s daughter. Trump has a growing army of lawyers, none of whom he listens to at all.
And this (and much more) was happening before Trump’s push to repeal Obamacare died in the Senate last night, and before Special Counsel Robert Mueller announces a single indictment of anyone in Trump’s inner or outer circles. As I’ve been saying, the real problems haven’t hit yet. Wait until the Republicans discover that they can’t raise the debt ceiling and the country is about to default on its debts and cause a global recession. Wait until the Republicans can’t pass a budget or can’t pass a continuing resolution and the government shuts down. Or, more accurately, watch what happens to the party when its leaders need to go to the Democrats for help and get no help or cover from a White House that has no understanding of practical reality. Wait until we’re asked to follow Trump’s leadership during a crisis on the Korean peninsula or he inadvertently starts a crisis there by making careless tweets.
The failures so far have been spectacular, but they’re just the warm up act. The real consequences are just on the horizon, and all queued up to hit us between Labor Day and Halloween.
Trump has no yet begun to lose, and we’re all going to lose with him unless something preemptive is done by people in responsibility who currently show no signs of having any wisdom or any guts.
Wasn’t Rick Perry caught like this before? He shouldn’t be in charge of a lemonade stand!
I still think failure to raise the debt ceiling will be hung around Democrats’ neck if none vote for it.
How do you blame the democrats when they control like nothing?
just watch. the corporate media are masters at it.
every editorial writer in the country will be telling Democrats they must cave for the sake of saving the country.
Exactly! Headlines will scream that Democrats refused to raise the ceiling and it’s all there fault. Say 45% of (R)’s vote for it and 0% or 1% (D)’s. Unless there is a poison pill (and the idiots probably will put one in), (D)’s will be blamed. Maybe even with a poison pill. Government will start to shut down (IL is the test case) until government contractors say “Enough!”. Not employees or the people. They don’t count.
If its a clean debt ceiling, then vote for it. They should try extracting some concessions if Republicans need the votes. They can afford to string things out for a little while.
You may be thinking of Scott Walker. He took a call a disc jockey who was claiming to be one of the Koch brothers, and never caught on that it was a prank.
The Democratic party and its leadership(?) need to get way the hell out front of the debt ceiling.
They should start making clear, right now, that they are only going to vote to rescind the Debt Ceiling law so that neither party is able to hold the government, citizens, and world hostage to economic crisis.
And go out in front of the TV cameras every single days saying that same thing. Over and over and over.
Now, more than ever, we’ll see just how McConnell chooses his future. From lip quivering last night, then watching Hatch hug McCain, McConnell at this moment is isolated. I doubt McConnell differs much from the 70 year old President in that he’d really like to fall back on tried and true. But this time both of his hands are empty, he’s lost leverage, he’s brought the majority party across the line into a minority.
I won’t be surprised if McConnell’s public humiliation last night translates into him seeking revenge against Trump. And that can only mean Trump isn’t the only one that we’re about to see lose.
I buy that McCain’s vote was retaliation on Trump for impugning his military record. That Trump was right just rubs salt in the wounds.
McCain has willingly eaten a lot of shit for power, money, and a young woman. Now he’s old, has life threatening cancer and a now this scungilli in the White House attacks his manhood. Right at his military record when he comes from a line of Admirals. Even McCain has a limit.
There’s a very big collective action problem here. Which was/is behind the repeal insanity.
Any Republican who comes out early calling for resignation/impeachment/25th Amendment will feel like he is signing his political death warrant.
It’s gonna have to get very bad indeed. And it certainly will.
All that stuff you talk about is going on in the WH…which is the extent of the donald’s world. Out here in the world all kinds of stuff is going on. Pakistan just got rid of their PM. Doesn’t Pakistan have our back in Afghanistan? Have we not been instrumental at keeping another Pakistan/India war? North Korea just did another bomb test. Lets not forget about Putin. Has he run out of patience with the donald? The congress better not leave town without making sure someone is keeping a close watch on the WH.
Putin just put the same sanctions back on us by expelling diplomats and taking away a compound. Seems he is upset that congress is about to cast the Obama sanctions in concrete and away from Trump’s ability to eliminate them.
Trump can’t be this stupid. I mean he can’t right? He appears to have a serious undiagnosed personality disorder. He really should be seeing a psychiatrist for professional help. But I doubt he will and, in the end, that is bad for us. The Rs need to step up and take him out before it gets worse, and maybe even for himself. Simply hiring that foul mouth ass as communications director suggests something is wrong with him. And then he figures he can threaten a couple of senators. What is wrong Donald? Holy cow what a shit show.
>>Trump can’t be this stupid.
disagree. it’s just hard to believe how stupid he is.
He graduated from Wharton. Did Daddy pay for that? He was also said to have good grades in HS.
it’s true he graduated. per wiki he has a bachelor’s in Econ specializing in real estate. At my college Econ was considered not too hard, unless you concentrated in accounting.
Trump is this stupid bc he’s been able to be this stupid in his “Before” (the White House) life and get away with it, while somehow managing to come out on top financially (for himself alone, of course).
Really Trump knows no other way of “being.” Trump’s a mega egotistical narcissist, and apparently there’s never been anyone – other than possibly Ivanka – who’s ever pointed out his suckingly yuuuuge flaws, errors, stupidities, etc, to him without being crushed like a beetle and kicked to the curb.
Sad to say, however, there’s loads of good explanations out there why Trump’s super loyal fans are still incredibly enamoured of this loud-mouthed bullying creep. For one thing, the usual villains in the M$M – Fox & Rush, I’m looking at you – continue to burnish Trump’s “image” with their own loyal fans and lie lie lie to their viewers/listeners about what a great great man, patriot and POTUS Trump is.
And so on. So Trump’s base is every bit as fanatically loyal as they’ve ever been, if not more so. IF they even perceive that Trump’s under seige, they’ve been brainwashed to blame it all on their bounden, most hated and despised of enemies, the LIEbruls. So they’ll rally even more to Trump’s side and cling to him like super-glue.
The Rs have painted themselves into a corner – as has long been predicted by us Libtards. They can’t live with Trump, but they really canNOT live without him. If the Rs attempt any way of ousting Trump, they are royally screwed, and that particular “screwing” may well be the one that sticks (as opposed to the many many many other times when the Rs have been caught with proverbial egg on their faces – WMD lies, anyone? – and still got clean away with it). I’m not so sure that Trump’s fans will remain loyal voters for the R Team (they sure as hell won’t ever never ever vote for a D, but they have other options, such as not voting or voting for Libertarians or whatever) if the Rs oust Trump.
Hope like Hell that Rs enjoy being hoist on their own petards. They certainly deserve it.
In the meantime, it sucks for all concerned that we’re stuck with this egomanical, emotionally unstable, weird, ignorant bully who wipes his fat @zz with our nation’s constitution.
His narcissism makes him a fool.
Trump is lashing out now out of fear and desperation, because he knows he’s at risk of legal jeopardy. And we have yet to see any charges from Mueller.
My biggest fear is that when that time comes, that level of fear and desperation will be taken to a new level. Its frightening to think what we can expect from an insane, desperate man in control of the most powerful arsenal in the world.
Yes. This.
Trump is in waaaay over his head, which he semi sort of admitted somewhat earlier in his Admin, when he said something about how he never realized how hard this job was. Sane citizens were all, like: DUH! But I’ve always maintained that vengeful, revenging Trump looked at the Blah, Obama, and said: a Blah? If that uppity __ can do that job, how HARD can it be? I can do it much better with both hands tied behind my back.
Then Trump wins the election, and lo & behold: it’s actually a really really hard job. And Trump has the least skill set, probably, of ANY of the other R KKKlowns who attempted to run last year. And clearly Trump has learning disabilities (at the least), and here we are.
He keeps trying his usual abusive bullying behavior, combined with ersatz – but ever more pathetic – campaign rallies, to solidify his standing.
Those tactics worked for a brief period of time earlier in his Admin, but as time goes by, his sheer utter incompetence for this position, combined with what appears to be a rather serious personality disorder (and possible dementia), has smacked him upside the head. His WH staff are unraveling. His family members are in hot water. His so-callled cabinet is falling apart. And the bills he wants to get passed are DOA.
Fox and Rush can only prop him up for so long. Although there will, sadly, always be a somewhat significant minority who will cling to this Authoritarian Would-Be King like glue, many of his former fans will continue to fall by wayside.
And then the real desparation will be revealed. I shudder to have to witness it. Ain’t gonna be pretty. Hold onto your hats, my friends, as I fear we’re in for a bumpy ride.
Priebus gone. Kelly in.
Oh, come on. This is an absurd exaggeration of what is known. What is pretty clear is that Trump Jr. met with a couple of people who turned out to be Russians, to try to get material they told him was from the Russian government, which would have proven that Hillary was guilty of crimes. One of the two people was once said to be connected to Russian intelligence. Trump Jr. said it was a bait and switch operation, and they did not actually have any material on Hillary but had hoped to high pressure sell him on asking his father to remove sanctions from a Russian oligarch. “Dead to rights” is not the appropriate phrase. I understand you are willing to ignore critical thinking to remove Trump by any means possible, no matter how unethical or dishonest those means need to be, but you’re just being silly.
This is a ludicrously charitable reading of the situation that flies in the face of the evidence. The email Trump Jr. released was specific and clear.
via that e-mail exchange of eagerly accepting the meeting in the expectation of receiving dirt on Hillary from agents of the Russian government as “part of Russia and its government’s support for Mr. Trump”.
The very most charitable possible characterization of that is a clear confession of “intent to collude”, regardless of the truth/falsehood of Jr’s claim that he didn’t receive what he was promised.
Which, though I am not a lawyer, does not seem materially distinct from plain ol’ “collusion” and/or “conspiracy to collude” with the Russian government.
“Dead to rights”, indeed.
