Are Jews responsible for the assassination of the Romanov family a hundred years ago? The Russian church’s plan to develop a martyr cult around the Romanovs is suffering from lack of public interest. Kirill seeks an new investigation by the Russian Federation courts to prove that Jews were responsible for the assassinations.
John Helmer, who is in Moscow, reports:
Turns to the right like Russia’s often turn anti-Semitic. This involves getting the state’s rejiggering of the facts to fit the establishment of a cult.
From John Helmer’s report:
Nicholas Romanov was canonized in the year 2000, four years after a Church commission headed by Metropolitan Yuvenaly (Vladimir Polyakov) reported that the tsar’s failures as a ruler, and the evidence of his death were too categorical to justify the conclusion that his life qualified as sainthood or his death as martyrdom. Since the former had been morally culpable, and the latter political-military, Yuvenaly recommended canonization for Nicholas as “passion bearer”, the Church’s lowest grade of saints. That ruled out any religious motive in his execution. Nicholas’s death was an “heroic deed of non-resistance to violence”, Yuvenaly reported .
For more details of Yuvenaly’s report and its consequences, read this.
Yuvenaly had the backing of the patriarch at the time, Alexei II. Alexei died in December 2008, and in the succession contest, Kirill, then 62, bested Yuvenaly, 73. Their rivalry inside the Church can be followed here. Since he took power, Kirill has eliminated Yuvenaly’s influence, as well as his faction of bishops in the Synod. A year ago, Putin presented Yuvenaly with a retirement gift — the Order of Merit to the Fatherland, Second Class.
Vladimir Putin and Bibi Netanyahu are on speaking terms and Ukraine is split in many Jewish oligarchs along the political lines of the pro-West and Russia. Corruption thrives in Kiev and Odessa. The Orthodox church is split in Ukrainian and Russian faction. Putin in no-way is seen as anti-semite.
Russia Today article on John Helmer – Anne Applebaum – Legatum in London – Poland – Ukraine …
○ Don’t agree with Legatum? You must be a ‘KGB’ agent!
The grandparents of Vicky Nuland [neé Nudelman] were Jewish and escaped a pogrom in the region of Byelorussia – around the year 1905. The history of pogroms throughout the ages!
So quoting a journalist who lives full time in Russia as a reporter tolerated by the regime about a church-state split that would be local news is now verboten because a right-wing American married to a a former Polish foreign minister claims Helmer’s a spook.
Apparently it’s only reporters in the US who have independent opinions, and yet no one can seem to shut down the Pizzagate story which is a proven hoax.
And yet people are policing progressive blogs so that wild and wooly stories from outside the bubble don’t get introduced with context.
Yes, descendents of Russian Jews get a little worked up about anti-Semitism. The memory of pogroms is as strong for them as the memory of the Shoah for Central and Eastern European Jews.
Helmer reports that the government commission on assigning the assassination of the Tsar in 1995 came to some specific conclusions, which some popularly seem to be trying to bend to non-Russian Orthodox, particularly atheists and Jews. To what extent Kirill can use the Russian Orthodox Church to support that view and provide a wedge for a religious political party is something to watch. Putinism is temporary; in no way do I sense that Putin has the power to become leader-for-life. He must still go through the election process, no matter how corrupt or honest, each succeeding election. There are enough ambitions in Russia to have him opposed at some point.
“Jewish oligarchs… corruption”
I don’t like the way that paragraph smells at all.
What would you call Steven Mnuchin? Sheldon Adelson? Other friends of Natanyahu?
Or their counterparts in Russia or Ukraine?
But the smell comes from the Archibishop Kirill searching for evidence of “ritual murder” in the assassination of the Tsar a hundred years ago and and spinning stories about how the Cheka officer who did the deed was, yes, an atheist, but his parents were Jewish.
That whole smell you smell has settled around the very alt-right that Mnuchin, Adelson, and their counterparts are collaborating with.
Jamie Diamond, on the other hand is a Greek-American oligarch with his own issues of corruption.
And then there are the protestant Christian oligarchs who play fast, loose, and are very corrupt and support Trump.
That paragraph reflects the culture of people who think they are above the law and don’t understand where their vulnerabilities lie. And it is in the very people with whom they are collaborating. And it is that that is the smell in the political air right now.
You are right to be worried.
