The Hill – Christie `absolutely’ believes he’d be president if Trump hadn’t run
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) said in a new interview he would have definitely won the 2016 presidential election if President Trump had not decided to run.
“I absolutely believe if Trump had not gotten into the race I think we would have won,” Christie told NJ.com’s Matt Arco in an interview published Sunday.
“It’s incredibly frustrating to think to yourself, ‘Wow, if this guy were not in the race, we’d win this thing,’ ” he said, while reportedly reflecting on internal polling from last year’s campaign.
Christie has lots of company on that last point – Cruz, Rubio, Kasich, Graham, etc.
As for now being President if Trump hadn’t been in the race, Crispie had his brain fried by getting within Trump’s orbit for months. Trump is contagious — others catch crazy and stupid from him. It increases the previous crazy and stupid in the victim. No evidence so far that anyone recovers from the infection.
Most delusional pol since HRC.
Let’s stick to Republicans for giggles in this thread. Other than MaryPat, Crispie doesn’t have a wide circle of people whispering in his ear that he’s winning Presidential timber. So, he’s almost totally responsible for feeding his delusions. Come to think of it, similar to Trump but without a stupid reality TV show. That’s what Crispie should first try to land, a TV show.
OK, scratch the last two words.
Much better, but there’s so much competition for “most delusional pol” that it’t tough to say that Christie is it. But his “if not for Trump, I would be POTUS” is pretty far out there.
Ari Fleischer:
No Ari, I have to watch some paint dry.
Considering “Wise Guys” as a synonym for organized crime, it’s an appropriate name.
Newsweek – Trump Speaks At Fourth-Grade Level, Lowest Of Last 15 U.S. Presidents, New Analysis Finds.
Evidence of decline? I pegged it at a fifth grade level during the campaign. (Haven’t been able to subject myself to watching him since then.)
Have considered that he developed this style and limited vocabulary to appeal to the expected reality show audience. However, if that were the case, there should have been a spontaneous rebound to a higher level when he got the promotion to the POTUS reality show. That leaves moron or dementia.
(Not sure how they found instances of Reagan “off-script.)
Politico – Trump calls current libel laws a ‘sham’
<blockquot>…
“We are going to take a strong look at our country’s libel laws so that when somebody says something that is false and defamatory about someone, that person will have meaningful recourse in our courts,” Trump said.
…
Sure could have used something like that when Trump was on his “Obama was born in Kenya” national tour. (I’m sure there are other instances of Trump libeling others.) Imagine a jury could have imposed a yuuge award for this.
Too many TVs at CES? For nearly two hours the power went out at the biggest electronics show of the year
(Never understood the difference between CES and COMDEX, but Sheldon Adelson made his first fortune from COMDEX. Sold it in 1995 and its last show was in 2003.)
Senate candidate (not yet official) and truly vile and very old (85) introduces his campaign theme”:Joe Arpaio: Obama’s birth certificate is a ‘phony document’
Suggests that he doesn’t know what year it is. Clinically not senile dementia, but old age related cognitive decline.
’nuff said. (Possible that old Joe is so befuddled that he won’t notice when he’s out and will just keep running as long as he can walk.)
Unfortunately they said the same about Trump. I think Arpaio is the darling and maybe cat’s paw of some VERY unsavory people.
Donald Trump visit to London called off …
Someone must have patiently explained (over and over again) until he finally got it that he couldn’t have a bigger and better London and BuckPal welcome than Obama received and it could only be much smaller and not as nice.
Trump’s new excuse:
Donald Trump blames Barack Obama for cancelling trip to open new US embassy in Britain
That makes no sense. And, once again, he’s made up facts to weirdly bolster his nonsense:
(And therein lies a clue on how to get under Trump’s skin.)
Okay — this is still developing and becoming more serious.
Explainer: Was the Sale of the U.S. Embassy in London a ‘Bad Deal’ Done for Peanuts? Expect more of the details (ie exactly what was sold) to emerge. So far it looks as if it was sold in 2009 to Gulf investor Qatari Diar for several hundred million dollars. (Not enough to cover the cost of the new embassy — but embassy construction overruns (and often by a lot) are nothing new.) Qatar renovation costs are estimated to be in the billion-plus range.
Moving along, Trump knows a thing or two about getting surplus USG real property for pennies. He picked up the DC post office for no money down, $250,000/month rent (60 year lease, option to renew for another 40 years), and a commitment for a minimum renovation budget of $200 million. (There was a higher rent offer but the proposal included much less in renovation costs.) Obama’s GSA handled the sale that along with other agreements with public agencies stretched from February 2012 to May 2014 when renovation work began. (The RFP was issued March 2011. The legislation requiring the redevelopment was passed and signed into law in 2008.)
Is there some background noise from KSA-UAE-Israel to Trump because of the purchaser? (While on the subject of Qatar, did everybody but me know that they purchased Miramax from Disny in 2010 and in 2016 sold it to BeIN Media (a Qatari non-state corporation)?)
Maybe we should say that London isn’t the capital and move our embassy to Exeter.
