Libertarians and Conservatives LOVE to talk about how the government should not over regulate social mores or corporations, because `market forces’ will force on society the changes required. For example…if a company/restaurant allows contamination in its products the public, after a few deaths, won’t buy it and the company/restaurant will go out of business.
Well, here it is…’market forces’, the `invisible hand’, reacting. And suddenly they don’t like it. What a shock. It’s easy to support such a ridiculous idea when you imagine the results as people being subservient and quiet. But `market forces’ can also be a mob, and that mob can easily show up at a business owners home with a rope instead of a mariachi party.
