[Cross-posted from European Tribune – where dissent is NOT troll rated!]

It’s the United States of America that’s been devisive over the past decades to harm peace in the world. A clear view, one of many signs in the past, was clearly stated by new US Ambassador Grenell to Germany. I do hope the shitstorm doesn’t subside and European leaders will stand-up for ethics, morals and show some spine to the one moronic superpower in the world aiming to destroy the planet. Ooops, our slimeball PM Rutte will visit Herr Trumpf in the White House to receive gratitude for a continued PR pressure on Russia and Putin as only Bill Browder could do better. An Oscar nomination anyone?

Dutch elections: Prime minister Mark Rutte calls for a ‘stand against Geert Wilders’ populism’ as Netherlands goes to the polls
Mark Rutte before the election: “Leave if you don’t like it here”

How did Rutte manage? By positioning his VVD party platform as close as possible to Geert Wilders’ PVV on immigration and radical Islam. A true wolf in sheep’s clothing. To let the conservative agenda in Dutch politics prevail. Rutte is a close ally of Theresa May and the U.S. President with whatever name on the mailbox 1000 Pennsylvania Avenue.

US ambassador Richard Grenell should ‘reconsider role’ after Europe comments

The US ambassador to Germany, Richard Grenell, needs to rethink his role in Germany or risk becoming a “highly ineffective” ambassador, a prominent lawmaker from Chancellor Angela Merkel’s conservatives told DW.

“[Grenell’s] time may be quickly running out to be an effective and workable ambassador to this country,”  Andreas Nick, a Christian Democratic Union (CDU) lawmaker who also sits on the Foreign Affairs Committee in the German parliament, said on Tuesday.

‘Learn more about German history’

Grenell has been roundly condemned in Germany after he said it was his goal to “empower” anti-establishment conservative forces in Europe in an interview with right-wing news outlet Breitbart.

Grenell’s language, Nick said, was “highly inappropriate” and, when translated into German, reminiscent of language used by extremist politicians in the 1930s.

“If you translate ‘awakening’ and ’empowering’ in this context, very ugly German language comes up, which resonates with the 1920s and 1930s,” he said, adding that Grenell would “be well advised” to learn more about German history “and the sensitivities that result from that.”

Trump’s ambassador to Germany talked to Breitbart — and started an international incident | Vox News |

Prior to becoming Trump’s ambassador to Germany, Richard Grenell was a Republican operative with a history of making bombastic — one might even say “undiplomatic” — statements. Over the weekend, this habit got Ambassador Grenell in trouble when he gave an unguarded interview to Breitbart in which he seemed to imply that he would actively work to topple the current centrist German government.

“I absolutely want to empower other conservatives throughout Europe, other leaders,” Grenell told Breitbart’s Chris Tomlinson. “I think there is a groundswell of conservative policies that are taking hold because of the failed policies of the left.”

The key word there is “empower.” It suggests that Grenell views his job not merely as representing America’s policies to the German government but also working to actually strengthen German — and other European — factions that he and the Trump administration approve of.

In the interview, Grenell singled out Sebastian Kurz, the young Austrian chancellor who has opposed refugee resettlement and banned Muslim women from wearing burqas in public, as an example of the kind of politician he likes and wants to encourage. On Monday, Germany’s Der Spiegel reported that Grenell had invited Kurz to lunch.

Given that German Chancellor Angela Merkel is widely seen as part of the moderate political establishment, and is the most significant champion for keeping the European Union’s borders open, a number of analysts saw this as a suggestion he wanted to “empower” her far-right opponents in the Alternative for Deutschland (AfD) Party.

The US is fueling European divisions | DW Opinion |

Germany is outraged. Only hours after right-wing media outlet Breitbart released an interview with the new US ambassador to Germany, Richard Grenell, some are calling for his expulsion. In it, the Donald Trump appointee expressed his desire to empower conservative, anti-establishment movements in Europe. Many of his talking points would have roused applause from the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party: the passages referencing a silent majority, the welfare of the average worker, as well as those criticizing Germany’s current refugee policies and describing an out of touch political elite. It isn’t the first time that Grenell has so explicitly waded into internal German affairs. Shortly following his appointment, he demanded that German businesses halt trade with Tehran in reaction to the trans-Atlantic dispute over the Iran nuclear deal.
