I don’t read Trump’s tweets. I don’t read any tweets, truth be told. It is the lowest IQ messaging system possible. Shallow as a dried up gourd.

I also don’t listen to or read Trump’s speeches. They are without any meaning except threat…his threat…and I already know about that.

Neither do I watch or listen to the media TranceNews system. If I want information, I read it. That way I have some modicum of control about what kind of arrant bullshit is trance-mediaed into my being.

I look away from any and all advertisements, print or otherwise media-generated. I also turn off the sound.

And…I strongly oppose the “emergency” warning system in effect on our phones. A big, loud noise followed by a “Be scared. Be very scared!!!” message about some poor kid who has (possibly) been “abducted” in (maybe) a tan sedan with (probably) Oklahoma license plates or about the (possibility) of “flash floods” in the area.

Read on.
I’ve lived through innumerable storms without fear…hell, as a kid and young man I used to go out with my father and brothers and fight hurricanes on the south shore of Long Island. That’s right..fight ’em!!! We always had a boat and we’d take it out into a well-protected cove before the storm hit, sink anchors forward and rear and then run the motor to lessen the drag on the anchor. Once the eye showed up, we’d pull the anchors, turn the boat around to face the other direction….into the new, oncoming wind…cast anchors/run the motor again and wait the damned thing out. Or…in potentially lesser storms…we’d go to the marina with boat hooks and make sure the boat didn’t get damaged on the pilings.

Generations and generations of south shore L.I. baymen’s practice and wisdom.

No fear…gotta keep the boat working or we don’t eat!!!

Duh!!!

I don’t need no goddamned “emergency alerts,” and neither should you. I’m sorry for abducted children, but the chances of my seeing that car are almost nil. 20 minutes after the alert…if I’m driving…I will have forgotten the specifics in the interests of sheer self-defense. The destructive maelstrom of terrible drivers in the U.S. makes a hurricane look like a cow fart in comparison.

How many die in car accidents in the U.S.? About 40,000 in 2017. How many die in hurricanes?

Well

[The 2017 hurricanes] Harvey and Irma…left a total of 103 people dead in the U.S.

And how many of those fatal traffic accidents would have been preventable if car safety, driver education and traffic laws were really enforced? You know…not just government-for-profit speeding tickets. Real driving errors. No turn signals, bad lights at night, passing on the right, hanging in the blind spot for minutes at a time, tailgating, bad tires, no stops at stop signs and so on.

And now? The threat of hearing the usual “Be very scared!!!” loud noise from my phone and finding Donald Fucking Trump at the other end, tweet-texting his insanity in a totally unavoidable fashion???!!!

Hell no!!!

No way.

This Thursday…well before 2:18 PM (the stated beginning of this farce)…I am turning my phone off for a couple of hours. I propose others do the same until this little game is over.

Let’s make it a national boycott!!!

What could we call it?

Well…for starters, how about:

#NoTrumpTexts!!!

Or maybe:

#TrumpStrike!!!

Ignore everything the motherfucker says!!!

If successful, that would dry him up in a matter of days.

Just another dried-out gourd.

Got a better one?

Lay it on me.

Please!!!

Thank you, and a peaceful Sunday (also this coming Thursday) to all of you.

Later…
