I don’t have any particular insight into when the Office of Special Counsel will complete its work. Rumors that they are nearing the end have given me cause for both hope and alarm. I want them to wrap it up because Congress needs the information soon if they are going to act before the pressures of the 2020 campaign overwhelm them. But, I don’t want Mueller completing his work without seeing some indictments in the Cambridge Analytica subject matter. It looks like that is coming, although that also means that Mueller probably is still months away from being finished.
On balance, this is good news because it indicates he is leaving no stone unturned and getting to the bottom of things. But the delay could be a real problem.
There is a big part of the population that is very resistant to believing this Russia stuff. The more solid a case Mueller can build, he can get through to a few of them.
Count on the GOP for an all-out effort to discredit Mueller, need to be prepared.
I think Mueller is still a long way away from wrapping up.
I’m wagering that the investigation stretches past 2020.
He doesn’t necessarily need to complete the investigation and submit the report soon, but he needs to get more info into the public domain. Unseal indictments, un-redact the Flynn sentencing memorandum — stop leaving breadcrumbs and dump the loaf. Barr will probably eat the report for lunch anyway, the action will be in the courts.
If Barr squelches the report, I think we can expect a copy of the report to “”accidentally” fall out of Mueller’s car right in front of the Washington Post.
Let the investigation stretch past 2020, when Trump is no longer in office and can no longer hide behind the Presidency to avoid criminal liability. Then he can be indicted and face trial, and without a republican president to pardon him (yes there WILL be a democratic president in 2020) he can finally be held accountable for a lifetime of corruption and criminality.
I don’t know if a long investigation is good or bad, but it’s worth mentioning that it took the FBI 10 years to take down John Gotti.
Then he can be indicted and face trial, and without a republican president to pardon him (yes there WILL be a democratic president in 2020) he can finally be held accountable for a lifetime of corruption and criminality.
Good luck betting on that. I think we all remember what happened the last time there was a GOP presidency filled with criminals.
Very few of us are old enough to remember a Repugnican presidency that was not filled with criminals.
Ken Dilanian says TOMORROW. He said the same thing last week, of course, and the week before, and the week before….but this time for sure.
He really said that? Because Dilanian is a known CIA/security state tool. I’m not sure how he knows what the DOJ/Mueller is doing though.
He’s become a staple on cable news predicting the end of the Mueller investigation – so much so that Wonkette even ran a feature making fun of his predictions.
Piece is actually about Swalwell but Dilanian is mentioned prominently.

Heartening to note that she’s not just cooperating with Mueller but also with Congressional investigations.
That she’s gone from a witness, to being subpoena’d and now is considered a subject of Mueller’s investigation opens up a whole new wish list of seeing the Mercers as targets.
Has anyone ever thought the Mercers were behind the data theft from Equifax? Did anything ever come of that theft?
Here are a couple of more recent reports on Mueller’s investigation of Cambridge Analytica, etc.
These were worthwhile articles, priscianus jr. Thanks.
So Brittany Kaiser is presenting herself as a Bernie supporter and in-the-know whistle-blower who wants to undo the damage she helped do to our politics worldwide…while agreeing to be a primary speaker at CPAC 2019.
What the fuck is she up to?
I didn’t see she was a supporter of Bernie. She said she voted fo him, but she did work for Howard Dean and Barack Obama. It seems to me she likes politics, most any flavor. Somehow I doubt she has much to offer Mueller ( she seems to bounce around a lot) but some talks could be useful, I suppose. Whatever.
Kaiser’s willingness to be featured at CPAC, a radical right-wing, partisan, dishonest, malignant political conference, is a peculiar choice. It’s way off the brand she is otherwise trying to sell for herself, and a provocative signal.
It seems to me that the rumors you speak of have been emanating with great frequency since last November at least. A lot of it is Republican spin — the more Mueller finds out, the more they want you to believe it’s about to end. (Earlier, if you remember, there were constant rumors that Mueller was about to be fired.)
The rest of it, as you suggest, is curiosity and impatience from those who want to know the full story.
No Stone unturned?
