From the always execrable, consistently anti-AOC NY Post. (They can’t make a point even when they try to do so!!! [Emphasis mine.]):

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: Being a waitress is as good as being lawmaker

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez says being a waitress is just as good as being a member of Congress.

“I find it revealing when people mock where I come from, & say they’re going to `send me back to waitressing,’ as if that’s bad or shameful,” she tweeted on Friday. “It’s as though they think being a member of Congress makes you intrinsically `better’ than a waitress.”

“But our job is to serve, not rule,” added the New York Democrat, a former bartender.

—snip—

“Bartending + waitressing (especially in NYC) means you talk to 1000s of people over the years. Forces you to get great at reading people + hones a razor-sharp BS detector,” she wrote on Twitter. “Just goes to show that what some consider to be `unskilled labor’ can actually be anything but.”

AMEN TO THAT!!!

P.S. This echoes what Beto O’Rourke said here:

“A lot of it comes from just accepting that I’m not as smart as I want to be,” he said. “I’m more likely than not always not the smartest guy in the room. I haven’t figured it all out.”

Richard Pineda suggested that not by supporting any particular policy but instead “largely by the interaction which [he] had with constituents.”

To serve, not to rule!!!

I recently wrote a whole post on that theme.

Beto O’Rourke – REPRESENTATIVE!!!

Go read it if you have not done so already.

The major leftiness/progressive opposition to O”Rourke’s apparent candidacy so far is that he is not “doctrinaire enough.”

Doctrinaire enough in a leftiness-approved manner, of course.

But he is doctrinaire!!!

His doctrine appears to be:

Find out what the majority of voters want, and then see if you see if you can get it done!!!

“The O’Rourke Doctrine,” in a nutshell.

And thank God for it!!!

Imagine if Clinton I had run a well-publicized plebiscite stating:

I intend to sell the industrial might of this country to the highest foreign bidders.

Yea or Nay?

C’mon…

The ensuing negative response would have broken all U.S. voting records.

Bet on it.

Instead he waffled, tap-dance and outright lied in order to do what his so-called “advisors”…”owners”might be a more accurate word…told him that he should do.

Did he believe it himself?

I dunno.

But it makes no difference.

He didn’t ask the people.

Not straight-talking, for sure!!!

And when Ross Perot called the whole thing out on national TV?

He got his ass handed to him by the then very powerful national media. (And most likely some of the nastier elements of the Deep State as well.)

Game over.

No more to say.

Now?

The mass media only controls the minds of what is rapidly becoming a minority in his country.

The stupid, the hidebound and the old.

So it goes…

Is this now the time that the major media lose its power to dictate?

Let us pray.

P.P.S. Ross Perot. (Emphasis mine.):

From the NY Times coverage of the 1992 presidential debates:

Q: Yes, I’d like to direct my question to Mr. Perot. What will you do as President to open foreign markets to fair competition from American business, and to stop unfair competition here at home from foreign countries so that we can bring jobs back to the United States.

PEROT: That’s right at the top of my agenda. We’ve shipped millions of jobs overseas and we have a strange situation because we have a process in Washington where after you’ve served for a while you cash in and become a foreign lobbyist, make $30,000 a month; then take a leave, work on Presidential campaigns, make sure you got good contacts, and then go back out. Now if you just want to get down to brass tacks, the first thing you ought to do is get all these folks who’ve got these one-way trade agreements that we’ve negotiated over the years and say, “Fellows, we’ll take the same deal we gave you.” And they’ll gridlock right at that point because, for example, we’ve got international competitors who simply could not unload their cars off the ships if they had to comply — you see, if it was a two-way street — just couldn’t do it. We have got to stop sending jobs overseas.

To those of you in the audience who are business people, pretty simple: If you’re paying $12, $13, $14 an hour for factory workers and you can move your factory South of the border, pay a dollar an hour for labor, hire young — let’s assume you’ve been in business for a long time and you’ve got a mature work force — pay a dollar an hour for your labor, have no health care — that’s the most expensive single element in making a car — have no environmental controls, no pollution controls and no retirement, and you don’t care about anything but making money, there will be a giant sucking sound going south.

So we — if the people send me to Washington the first thing I’ll do is study that 2,000-page agreement and make sure it’s a two-way street. One last part here — I decided I was dumb and didn’t understand it so I called the Who’s Who of the folks who’ve been around it and I said, “Why won’t everybody go South?” They say, “It’d be disruptive.” I said, “For how long?” I finally got them up from 12 to 15 years. And I said, “well, how does it stop being disruptive?” And that is when their jobs come up from a dollar an hour to six dollars an hour, and ours go down to six dollars an hour, and then it’s leveled again. But in the meantime, you’ve wrecked the country with these kinds of deals. We’ve got to cut it out.

Yup.

And here we jolly well are, aren’t we.

Up the creek without a paddle, led by a geriatric, criminal madman.

Time for a change!!!

A sea change.

The same old, same old Dem “leaders?”

You know…the ones that got is into this pickle way back in 1992 and have helped keep us there for well over 25 years?

Please!!!
