Shameless Self-Promotion: Andrea Colburn and Mud Mosely

A little shameless self-promotion: if you’re in or near Nashville this weekend, I’ll be playing with a great group.

Heads up, music lovers. It’s Nashville Boogie this weekend, and if you’re within driving distance, even a long drive, it’s worth coming out. I mean, look at this line up: the B-52s, Ronnie Spector, JD McPherson, and oodles more.

Should you come down, and should you be up late, and should you be in the front room of the Nashville Palace on Friday, I’ll be thumping the upright bass from 12:30-close with Andrea and Mud out of Atlanta.

It’s a very cool sound, steeped in traditional country and rockabilly, and clearly influenced by bands like the Cramps and the Phantom Cowboys. Andrea handles most of the vocals, but when Mud drops in he’s got this giant Dave Dudley/Dick Curless trucker country voice coming out of him.

Check out “The Devil’s Riding Shotgun” — it’s a great tune overall, but my favorite part is when the organ kicks in around the 2:30 mark.
