Hello photo lovers!
The new series of foto flogs continues.
Posting photos should be easy. Do you have images hosted somewhere? You should just need an url. Once you place an url of your photo into a comment, your photo should post just fine. No need for any code any more. I host some of my personal photos on Flickr. I think some others use Imgur and find that hosting service satisfactory. Whatever works.
The Foto Flog was curated by a lot of people over the years. At one point, they were even themed – Foto Fairs. For now let’s keep it loose. This week, I am taking you to the beach – specifically Huntington Beach. This is probably not the best one I have taken from the pier, but it is my most recent.
To participate in the foto flogs, you don’t have to be a pro. I am definitely an amateur hobbyist. I’ve been taking tons of photos – mostly of landscapes and cityscapes – since I was in my early teens. Currently, I use my LG ThinQ 40 for everyday use. I do have a 35mm camera that is a good three decades old, although one of my daughters seems to have commandeered that one. I’ve always been impressed with the folks who have posted their work in the past. So, let’s make this come to life.
Cheers!
My camera club assignment for the month was “circles and lines.” Seemed nothing matched better than the front end of a 1938 Bugatti. For lines alone, the black & white “peekaboo Holly View” seemed full of it.
Nice. Not every day any of us would see a ’38 Bugatti. Cool photos!
I have recently been playing around with a Canon mirrorless camera that I was given, at least for now, and it’s really got beautiful quality images. “Silky” is the only way I can describe it. It makes pictures of everyday objects look beautiful. Its also much much faster than my previous workhorse, a Lumix FZ-20 which has a fabulous zoom lens and picture stabilization but is really showing its age otherwise. So I’ve been getting back into photography a bit. Also, scanning leaves and everyday objects. My wife however, is SO very much better than I at both photography and painting. I am perfectly happy to bask in her glow however because her stuff is increasingly a real joy to see.
I like shooting panoramas, when I get to travel, and recently I’ve discoverd programs like VSFM and Colmap. Has anybody tried any of the free photogrammetry software? You can make 3D models of things from their photographs. This works best with Nvidia graphics hardware, currently, if you want to create “dense” models (with a colormap applied over the model) but if you have AMD or Intel hardware you can still use this software to do a slightly need useful but still very useful 3D point cloud in Colmap and use other software to create a dense model of some kinds of objects, although its not easy with objects without some detail on the surface for the software to triangulate on.
I’m just getting started with this, I am by no means an expert. But I love talking about it nonetheless. So take what I say with a grain of salt.
