Sarah Cooper is at it again:
That’s my quick tour of the state of political comedy. I am still trying to sort out how to embed videos in comments now that the comment feature is a bit different. So if you see me experimenting (and failing) a lot, you know what is going on. Nothing wrong with failed experiments. It’s part of the sciences and part of life.
In the meantime, if the jukebox seems to be temporarily broken, at least have drinks on the house.
Cheers!
Update (7/17): I am going to just start doing an end run around the comments section since those will never seem to allow us to post YouTube or similar audiovisual info:
Update 7/17: One more:

As you can see, I am experimenting with different approaches to posting audiovisual content in the comments. So far, not having a lot of success since the new comments format was rolled out. I briefly felt hopeful when, using the Source Code icon, I copied and pasted the standard YouTube source code for a video and could actually see the sort of image I would expect to see if I were to click on a video. Unfortunately, I received an error message stating that I could not post the comment until I had completed all fields. Not sure what that was supposed to mean. Messed around with that a bit. No dice. So I tried seeing if some version of posting Twitter links worked. If that had been successful, I would have created a spoof account on Twitter and just posted videos there and linked them here. Alas, that too was a failure. So maybe someone with a bit more tech savvy will have a workaround for me that can be shared. Since this series of diaries was always intended to be audiovisual in nature, losing that hampers things just a bit. Maybe that’s my cue that it’s time for a walkabout. Goodness knows I am busy enough, and we’ve had just a few too many health scares – including a new one.
Only other thing to do is to keep adding vids to the main post, although that will get a bit unwieldy after a while. And then if anyone else wanted to add any video material, they’d still be hampered. I dunno.
For those wondering, someone in my household had some symptoms that seemed consistent with COVID-19 for a couple days. Was planning on getting tested on Thursday. The symptoms seemed to go away. Testing in my state takes seven to ten days, if one is lucky. So for now we wait. We hope. I’ve seen horror stories of people who get tested, then end up in ICU before initial test results come back. I realize that this set of diaries are probably of minimal importance for this blog’s profit margin. They’ve been something of comfort to me (and i really hope a handful of others who remember the original frogpond). Realism is critical right now. So is some certain amount of comfort.

“Many people need desperately to receive this message: ‘I feel and think much as you do, care about many of the things you care about, although most people do not care about them. You are not alone.”
