We had a windstorm on Tuesday and I lost power and internet. The power came back on Wednesday but the internet, along with my landline phone and my television, is still out. Verizon keeps telling me they are committed to having it fixed by a time certain only for that time certain to pass. For example, they told me it would be fixed by 11am yesterday, then said 5:30pm then 11:15am today, and then 5:30am tomorrow. Meanwhile, my AT&T hotspot, which has been my only access to the internet, is now throttled from overuse, so I am effectively unable to function.
I apologize for being unproductive this week, but there’s really nothing I can do.
Sorry to hear that, that’s a really long time to be without internet, phone, and cable. But I’m glad your power wasn’t out for long, at least. Out here in the Portland, OR area there are still over 100k households without power after a wind / ice storm yesterday and temps are in the high teens. I’m seeing a lot of pictures of houses and cars that were destroyed by trees falling on them. And at least 3 people died yesterday. I am lucky that I have not really been inconvenienced by this at all, other than having to stay at home due to poor road conditions.
I hope you have some fun board games to play! We’ll be here when you’re available to write again. Good luck!
The main thing is you are safe and warm. Your regulars will still be here when you get back. Right now, I have electricity and internet, but the roads are for all intents and purposes are shut down. The weather is just nuts right now.
Adding: three major posts this week with unique insights on wide-ranging topics plus a new podcast, all while dealing with this storm and its aftermath. You have nothing to apologize for. Stay safe and be well.
Tying this on my phone. Verizon truck arrived today after a week. Guy told me it will be at least tomorrow evening(best case) before I have internet and tv back. So 8 possibly 9 days.
